lol ok just checking
CA18DET Topmount build and S14 T28 **ADSL**
Right heres some updates:
welded up the manifold finished and then had the main flange skimmed:

then i ported the ports with a die grinder to match the gaskets and ensure smoth flow:

did this aswell with the T2 flange on the merge collector but forgot to take pics...
then i sprayed the manifold with hi-heat black paint, its only rated up to 600deg celcius, but ive had good luck with it in the past, it lasted over a year on a friends manifold i sprayed, lost its color and went a dull grey but still protected from rust:

then i wrapped it up in some nice black ceramic heat wrap, wasnt sure whether to do it as ive heard it can cause the welds to weaken and crack over time, but i needed to do it as my clearances are so close under the hood:

then after all of that i was able to finally start putting things together 😀

looking quite good so far, still need to make an adaptor feed for my power steering, still need to finishd downpipe and water lines to turbo, but i have driven the car, just with a mockup water line from block back to intake line, and my airflow meter and filter held in temporarily and an old boost pipe connected, and the car is driving awsome 😀 boost kicks in a lil late due to my manifold design i think, as the runners are so long and fairly large inside diameter for an 1.8l, but when the turbo reaches full boost it really goes well, my wastegate spring is at 0.5, so i ran direct source pressure from my compressor housing to wastegate with top nipple venting to atmosphere and the car didnt boost over 0.6 and held 0.6 fully, reaches full boost at around 3500, and holds full boost right till 6000rpm (didnt want to take it higher) 😂 big improvement compared to my old T25 that would start to slack after 4000rpm. everything is healthy and im quite amped to have it done. although there is alot of work still to be done, ive got my FMIC to install and boost pipes and electric fans and battery relocation, but so long il drive it low boost with sidemount as ive been without the car for 5months now and i want to just drive it for a while before it needs to stand for more work.
Il attach a video of the drive i took. i put my standard bottom mount cast iron downpipe on and drove it without the bonnet so the downpipe faced up towards the sky, was pretty loud haha, midnight drive throught the neighbourhood tearing S#%t up 😂
Fuck that looks sexy!!!
Laters Riekert
Small update, did my boost pipe from turbo outlet, and did the inlet for airflow meter and filter, also you can see how i used the standard downpipe in the air to just drive the car around the block without burning my firewall. When get around to installing my FMIC then i can just connect my 63mm boost pipes to that 63mm coming out so no parts wasted for the small time i will be driving it side mount.
Must still do water lines and downpipe and power steering feed line adaptor, drove it with power steering belt off just to test so long.

its all coming together 😀
Looking Good
Would you like a water charge cooler for this ??
Hey Bigkriss, you mean like what the new M5's use on their bi-turbo setup? Howcome do you ask? I do have a decent size front mount intercooler I will be installing shortly.
Bit of progress, been busy with the new downpipe to meet up with my old 76mm exhaust. Some pics of the progress:

last bit of welding to be done today and then i can finally connect it to exhaust and drive it on the road without watching out for cops at every corner lol
Nicely done.
AWESOME work , 🙂 looking forward to your assistance on the VG30 build 😉
Small update, put the exhaust together and had the propshaft rebalanced and vibration seems to be completely gone, still to be done is:
- battery relocation to boot
- Fit FMIC and new custom boost pipes
- Dicktator management
- Bigger injectors: 440 or 550?
- electric fans with custom alluminium shroud
- higher boost 0.8 - 1.0bar
right now im just enjoying the car safely on 0.6bar, its performing decently, love the sound and im just happy to have a car again after 5months, plus just making sure everything is good, the T28 turbo is smoking a slight bit in boost, not bad enough to worry about, im keeping an eye on oil pressure and all is safe. but will import a genuine Garrett repair kit and have some pro's fit it and balance, thats the nice part of having the journal bearing it can be reconditioned.
Heres a small video of the me burning some rubber:
haha please dont judge its actually the first time ive ever attempted a doughnut with the car. but was fun 😂 tried to keep the rev's under 6500rpm but will definately keep practicing, but il slap on the standard 15's with some old tyres on next time.
Nice dont waist your time on 440cc rather go 550first time round 440 is not enough

Never actually posted any pics with the downpipe on and car on road, but like i said theres ALOT still to be done, but ive done about 1200km like this so far and not a single problem so very happy so far, here some pics:

Looks awesome. Tappet covers need a respray.

Yip definitely on my to-do list, will be doing it in blue, but its gotta wait a while, will fit new oem nissan gaskets when i remove and refit them and the pair is R450 last i checked from nissan, so among injectors, management and small items such as tappet cover gaskets the costs unfortunately add up alot on an apprentice's salary, so will take time.
Lol you dont need to explain to me about working with a tight budget lol I know all to well

Very neat considering you doing everything yourself! And on a budget for that matter

Alert engine parts sell the gasket for R30ea.
Wow nice work man, good to see someone putting in the effort themselves to make a neat job! Just a learning question, would the length of your mani pipes create more turbo lag?
Hey man thanks for the compliment, yes longer manifold runners do increase turbo lag a bit unfortunately, i hit full boost around 3500 rpm which is pretty high for a s14 t28 on a ca18, but at higher rpm i feel it flows really well, but I'm no expert, it was my first attempt so when im done the rest i would like to take it to a experienced tuner to dyno it and see what the power curve looks like and see what he thinks of my creation, but I'm enjoying it so that's what counts [emoji2], I've done more work since, moved battery to boot and I'm soon installing the fmic, will update with pics soon
