Nope this is the full cage. The guy who did it builds all VW motorsport's rally and Polo Cup cars. We discussed the cross in the main hoop but this design doesn't require it. He's built cages for WRC cars and he is listed on FIA's official biulders so he gets the regs each year.
With that being said, I still wanted to get the local guys to do an inspection on the cage prior to painting it. Just to confirm that it's all legit.

MSA references FIA appendix J for the regs, I'm not sure but your cage does not conform. This may or may not be an issue for you.

Just checked the regs and it looks like it conforms, to me at least. It doesn't specify the origin of the reinforcement of the main hoop. So with my type of reinforcement it still triangulates with rhe main hoop but it tie in with the rear brace instead of on the floor. To me this seems better than the floor. But I'm no specilist.

How much did he charge you for the cage? I am looking for someone to do my cage now?

I need to get going. Got a little more cleaning up on the inside to do. Small spots of surface rust that needs to go then I can start painting. I need to hurry up as the cage is already starting to develop surface rust on it. Don't want it to sit for too long.

Things have been a little crazy the last few weeks and I have haven't had any time to work on the car. I also came to the shocking realization that at the rate things are going now it's going to take a long time to get the car to the level where I want it to be. Work is so busy and with another kid on the way my time is becoming more precious. So working on the car has taken a back seat to everything else. This made me very sad. 😢
So I did what any reasonable person in my position would do and got something to cheer me up...
This is an ex 3hr endurance car. The car has done the last 2 3hr races at Scribante with no hassles. It's a completely stock '98 CLX apart from a branch and exhaust. There is also a little fiddling on the suspension side of tings. This is going to be a cheap as chips race car with low running costs. This will keep me busy and get the monkey off my back. Then I can spend the time building the SX to the level that I want it to be.
Got the pit crew working on the car prepping for the 1st race already... 😀
