Blowoff vs dump valve

I can get my moms automatic 1500 golf to brake fade in the 400m to the cafe and back... 2 circles 2 humbs and the 3 90degree turns...

doesn't take much effort to overheat the brakes on a heavy car like the SX... but on my new set of Ferodo Premium pads i've been lucky and havn't had them fade on me yet... the ATE's easy 2 quick stops = FADE

Surprisingly on the track it took 3 laps, guess the turns was far enough apart to let the brakes cool down enough.

Im not gonna drift... much. And im only gonna go for minor mods on the motor. So maybe just performance brakepads and a 20mm lowering kit?

I still have the original brake setup, barring Ferrodo Platinum pads, and the abs which has been disconnected. I have no issues with Traffic driving even.

I have to say though that my ABS unit, or distibution unit has been reallocated to the drivers side to ensure the fluid does not get warm. The rest of my brake lines are wrapped in asbestos wrap.

I think the SX brakes better than my brothers VR6 (which has huge discs in comparison to the SX).

I wouldn't mind an upgrade in this area though...

...only referring to brake lines in engine bay close to Turbo which have been wrapped...

Brakefade can be reduced by upgrading the rubber hoses, brakefluid and pads aswell,

RRiekertadmin26 Sept 2007, 21:24

So just change the pads then?

Had serious brake fade with Nissan OEM pads, switched to Ferodo Ceramics, nothing yet. Yes I drive like a maniac 😉

CChemCooladmin26 Sept 2007, 23:52

O goodness. I say nothing further more. Nothing about sx brakes and nothing about exh manifold gaskets. Its a waste of time. Sorry it is 11.49PM and may be I must go sleep.

maybe grumps, but then it is a thread about blowoff vs dump valve...

thanks for the time update -
when you hear the signal it'll be 4 AM and three seconds... 😢

I have both a wastegate and a dump or blow of valve and my car is running good with both no spool up problems nothing and it sounds bludy awsome

RRiekertadmin28 Sept 2007, 17:32

Bt how can you overcome the over fueling on the std ecu if you replace the bov?

DDanielmoderator28 Sept 2007, 19:58

fit a recirculating type

RRiekertadmin28 Sept 2007, 23:28

But will you still get that nice sound?

vveecee30 Sept 2007, 14:52

no.

but you could always buy one of those fake BOV sound systems from autostyle!!!

RRiekertadmin30 Sept 2007, 17:59

🙄 uhm R1800 for the fake sound or R800 for the real deal with little overfueling...

going back to the dump valve issue, what difference would moving the AFM from the filter side to directly on the intake by the throttle body. would this help with running rich. might be dumb question, but not really sure on this as i quite like the dumping sound.
