I ask because mine use to do that, I made it better by setting the clutch higher...., sometimes when I changed gears on heavy driving(6000 rpm and higher) it would scratch and not go in now and then.

I agree, when my clutch was fooked and slipped like ky on the floor, it scratched as well. After getting a new clutch fitted the scratch was gone!

I bought a new clutch from nissan, R3000 later, and the best of all, three weeks later it started slipping again!

Now aint that nice.

But Im goona take the car to CBS clutch and brake and hear if they can modify the clutch with a stronger pressure plate or sumthing.

Dont want button clutch

You could have saved some money if you tried a 5 spoke button clutch with springs and a double diafram preasure plate, I got a quote from a guy in pta for R1000. Myself and Freddy paid around R2500 if I am not mistaken then I found this guy with this price....

mmario_200sx19 Dec 2007, 13:17

wow, good price, and how is the driveability?

Cause I drive in traffic everyday.

DDoctor G19 Dec 2007, 13:33

Draco post up or pm those details pls. I'm in need of a new clutch assembly.

DDracomoderator19 Dec 2007, 14:12

You still get a bit of a slight shudder but it is not undrivable, you get to know it, I also drive traffic everyday.

I think I have the card at home, will post tomorrow.....

thanx draco,

Can do with a cheaper clutch! dont have R3000 and R1000 for fitment everytime!

EEro_sennin19 Dec 2007, 16:31

yea I also have a copper clutch, is slightly harder than stock, sits slightly higher, but fine to drive in traffic.

i bought the cheapest crappiest clutch ever and i was pleasantly surprised.

i got a valeo clutch for R750.00, installed it myself and its lasted for over 18 months so far, 12 months of which i've been drifting.

its a standard spec clutch for a ca18det too, nothing upgraded.

i really have been pleasantly surprised with this clutch, cos i really thought it wouldn't last 2 weeks!!!

Sorry guys, I forgot to get the card in my drawer, I will put up a reminder on my phone to remind me to bring the card tomorrow if you want it still.....?

DDrillergy20 Dec 2007, 08:23

Got a Valeo as well... Not too bad for daily driving with a bit of redline now and then but when they go...they break up into pieces...

\Not very good!!!

Thinking of Copper clutch or can you get a semi- copper make up for the clutch plate for our cars?

DDracomoderator20 Dec 2007, 08:52

"Thinking of Copper clutch or can you get a semi- copper make up for the clutch plate for our cars?"

There isn't a thing like a semi copper clutch, you get different copper clutches and then you can put in springs so it is not solid, less shudder.....

DDrillergy20 Dec 2007, 09:43

Someone said that the Ford ST's comes with a semi-copper clutch

🙄 they lied to me again

vveecee20 Dec 2007, 09:56

actually i do think you get a semi-copper clutch. they use a material with copper pieces embedded into it.

its not a full copper puck clutch, and its not a full organic clutch, its somewhere in the middle!

DDracomoderator20 Dec 2007, 10:32

Well there you go.....I have never heard of this....seems it is something to look into....phone ford and ask....let us know....
