found a pic im sure will make you get moving ever so fast on your project

RRiekertadmin15 Jun 2009, 13:52

hehe thanx man! just cash is a issue at the moment, plus still waiting on a water pump.

need about R1500 to go fetch the silvia parts. so hopefulle next month sometime.

RRiekertadmin07 Jul 2009, 13:04

Well after what seems to be forever (3 months more or less)... I found a waterpump.

I was very close to get one from Ian(rezlo) but didn't want to pay over R1k for it. maybe in the longrun it might've helped. but ja...

So I got one for R650 from Spares Inc.

Its a GMB make. Saw some of these on FRSports website too. so though it might be good.

Well I'm installing it tonite, the fan (thanx VC) has also been fitted like i mentioned and rigged to always stay on when the car is switched on. not sure what the implications are with a fan that runs the whole time...? Will it die sooner?

Anyhow... well I can't wait to get home and fit the pump, fill the radiator and get the car running!!! whoohoo!!!!

it will shorten the life of the fan but some has been known to run for years....the biggest thing is it will draw amps from your battery and strain your alternator.....not much....it normally draws about 7.5-8 amps, if your alternator is in good nick it should not be a problem.

mmm think its still in good nick. I do need a new battery though...

what amp fuse should I run on the fan? just incase.

and should I connect a switch to it?

DDracomoderator07 Jul 2009, 16:20

I think you should add a fan switch(thermo switch) and a tockle switch for backup, if you have 2 fans on...lets say a 10' and a 12', let the 10' run when the car is on and the 12' from the fan switch, remember to ad a 30 amp relay.

If you only run one fan...I would suggest a switch and a backup tockle switch....I would recommend adding at least 1 more 10'.

If you use only 1 fan a good quality 10 amp fuse will work with a quality fuse holder, if you use 2 a 20 amp is fine.

hehe I wish... never drifted in my life ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿ˜ณ just with a 1400 datsun on a gravel road. but that doesn't count...

anyhow... I fitted the new waterpump last nite. like 10min job hehe. tightened up the bolts, fitted the belts, etc.

Filled it up with water... let it run for a while. filled up again and then took it for a drive. YEAH its alive again!! but alas... the car dips between 4-5k rpm... just when it gets into boost... so talked to gary to confirm my suspitions, think it might be the fuelpump. will test the fuel pressure over the weekend on the old pump and then next week with the new one.

otherwise I still need to fit the battery in the boot. get a new battery before I fit it. hehe

mmm... what else... oh need to move the IC up by about 4-5CM so the piping clears the bumper. also need to check on the speed sensor... seems I'm driving slower than I am... or so says the GPS...

anyhow. enough boring updatings...

here is a few pics...
