Are you sure you've got the timing right?

RRiekertadmin08 Oct 2010, 07:10

I think so... but was sitting thinking about that last nite too... it could very well be the timing.... but got it as close to the stock spec as possible.

PP3g4susmoderator08 Oct 2010, 07:13

Shit thats not nice, but when you turn it by hand? It should get a bit "stuck" shouldn't it? If its the valve hitting though? 😕

the chain can only go on 1 way with the markings or did your not have them

RRB25SX08 Oct 2010, 09:07

Do a compression check 😉

no markings 🙁 so couldn't do it like that... got the points on the cam gears as close to 10 and 12 oclock as possible.

Thanx Wynand. Think I'll do that. Will need to get a tester first though.

RRiekertadmin12 Oct 2010, 14:18

haven't touched the motor yet 🙁 speaking to wynand over the weekend it might possibly be the shims... so will try and pull of the cam cover and the cams tonite. do a compression test tomorrow and then see if the comp is fine just check the shims. Hopefully thats the only problem... 🙂

RRiekertadmin17 Oct 2010, 11:33

ok so redoing the comp test on monday... 😳 hehe just to recheck as my dads comp tester seemed a bit flaky... and also getting the stock shims measured so I can put them back in the right places and then measure clearance again to see if I need new shims o.O but at R100 a shim I really hope I don't need any 😛

For now here are some pics:

That setup looks Ace bud! Can't wait to see this thing in the flesh!

Looking good, the white really pops!
Interesting intake location, should look nice when it's all completed.

RRiekertadmin18 Oct 2010, 00:52

thanx guys!

yeah! the white really works well 🙂 yeah the intake was a interesting one... I wanted to get it out the engine bay... so thought yeah why not... just move it to the front... now just to fit the filter and see if the bumper clears it... nice cold induction 😀

What radiator is that?
Looking sweet.

SSokar18 Oct 2010, 09:26

Found your problem..... you're missing a hose clamp...

😛

hahahaha. nice one!

and its a isuzu radiator.

RRiekertadmin26 Oct 2010, 07:59

so haven't done anything really... bought a new compression tester so I'm going to be testing the comp tonite. then try refit the shims and cams and the smaller injectors again.

thinking of selling the 750cc injectors as I don't have a chip/management to run it... but not sure if I must... if you want them make a offer 😛

RRiekertadmin07 Nov 2010, 18:03

So I'm getting myself a gotech management system to run the SR...

but the injectors are as good as sold 😛 haha

Great timing 😛

but its cool! will run stock injectors for now and upgrade again on a later stage.

PP3g4susmoderator08 Nov 2010, 08:29

Sweet dude! now you can start hunting for big power! 😛

PP3g4susmoderator17 Nov 2010, 08:59
