go with what i got dunlop 7000d's R800 each from jacks tyres for 225/45/17

Yeah, I'm reasearching tyres atm. Those dunlops are good and cheap. I'm gonna get prices for Bridgestone MY-01's and Yokohama S-Drives' aswell. I'm sure they gonna be expensive tho...

nice wheels dude!

RReeceZ14 Oct 2008, 08:44

I put my money on the Yokoz, excellent grip even in the wet, may be abit expensive, but its worth it, paid R940 each for 205/45/17, should give u a rough idea on how much u need to spend. keep the dunflops on the 15z' when you decide to 'attend lectures' again 😉

GGary5714 Oct 2008, 09:03

Fit 225/45 R17 nothing less. I wouldnt go for those Yoki's, the reviews arent that great and for the extra price I dont think they worth it. The Bridgestone MY01 is a good tyre and when last I checked they were R900ea. If they are alot more then I would go with the Dunlops SP7000D.

#1 is still TOYO T1R 8) .

Ask gary about the grip on my "Dunflops"

RReeceZ14 Oct 2008, 09:52

😂 no offense rat, I'm used to seeing a steamy pile of those after getting trashed at gymkhana's, so I would say that they r the weapon of choice when it comes sliding cos of they're price.

GGary5714 Oct 2008, 10:14

Yeah Rat your tyres did grip but that is because you didnt have the low down torque. When you had the torque you were going to fast to spin them, not enough power. Also you had 235s on the rears, Ryan is getting 225s so that will also be a differnce.

I have done load of research when it comes to tyres, I have also driven most of the top brands. #1 are my TOYO's, then Bridgestone , Pirelli, Yoki, Michlins, dunlops.

For the price MY01s then Dunlops.

RReeceZ14 Oct 2008, 15:13

Hey Ryan, u shud invest in a set of slicks on your 15z after you put your 17z on

TTrance10115 Oct 2008, 20:22

I got my mags and tires put on 2day. I came out awesome I think! 8) Plus it raised my sx up by about an inch which will help alot... 😉

I went with Bridgestone MY-01's, 225/45 R17 allround.

I'l take more pics when my sx is good and clean. That last one is the only real good end result pic and it came out blurry coz I was getting rained on 🙁

TTrance10115 Oct 2008, 20:44

Holy smokes dude. You better drive like you drive on eggs!

Thats why I pay less than half of that for my tires. + they only last me 6 months.

TTrance10115 Oct 2008, 20:53

Hehe, they are really good tires. I have my 15's to drift or stuff around with now. Just gonna be a mission to have to change tires all the time.

TTrance10114 Feb 2009, 14:28

Ok, updates.

Not too much has happened, mainly fixes and tuning. Had my clutch slave cylinder fixed and finaly my clutch feels 100% again. Also added an air temp sensor input for the tator and had a BOV installed.

The most recent 'mod' I did was last weekend when I removed the stock intake piping and replaced it with some new ali piping.

Before:

After:

I'm quite pleased with the result 8)

There are also some other item waiting in the wings. I have a new ali rad waiting to be installed as well as a Greddy profec b spec II on the way for better boost control.

Rad:

Also, Gary is busy ordering parts for a water meth kit for my sx. When it goes in for the rad and EBC, the water meth kit will also hopefully be added.

Those all should make a good difference 🙂 I can't wait.
