Hi everyone, sorry I didn't post the pics the other day... Been very busy...

Got the engine back and have been working on it a bit:

Engine with polished tappet covers, not the best work but good for now 😀

The newly sprayed mountings...

The manifold in with copper nuts ( did some sanding of the inside of the manifold cause of all the stuff that was burnt or caked on... the flow should be at least a bit better now 🙂 )

The sprayed pulleys...

Test fitted the turbo using 3 flanges instead of the spacer I bought because there isn't enough space and the compressor housing hits the engine mount...

Getting the oil lines for the turbo tomorrow, so will probably fit the turbo then 😀

Chem... One of the injectors was leaking and the caps were cracked on 2 of them so we sent them to City Auto Electricians in Boksburg to get serviced... They put on new rubber seals and reconned them completely for R1070...

Just want to add info, Changing the compressor side A/R has very little effect on the amount of Air Flow capability a turbo has , Its mainly used as a fine tuning measure but has very little effect over all.

The Turbine Side has a lot of effect over-all on response and power of a given Motor/Turbo combination , For a small example , If you sized that turbo with a .64A/R boost would come on sooner but because of back-pressure the power would be down over all when on boost if compared to using a .86A/R

Anyway Great build up cant wait to see more

Thanx Fluffybunny 🙂 You know you're technical advice is always appreciated...

This specific turbo has a larger inducer for the compressor wheel and a larger exducer for the turbine wheel... will this increase the flow?

And the turbine housing is a 0.49 AR and the compressor housing is a 0.42 AR...

nice - i like the polished covers. brings back old memories!

i remember putting like 10 hours of elbow grease into just one of the covers!!! paint removing, dry sanding, wet sanding, again and again and again, then polishing!

well done!

rratadmin10 Sept 2008, 20:59

very well done

2200SXSilviaSavage10 Sept 2008, 21:15

Thanx guys... the setup's getting there... Maybe should try some wet sanding like you said VC, thanx that should help for the little scrathes and marks...

RRiekertadmin10 Sept 2008, 21:34

Nice!!

vveecee11 Sept 2008, 01:03

yeah man,

you just go with finer and finer water paper, until you get to the 1600 grit. at that stage it starts looking like a mirror finish.

then all you need is some metal polish, and you can rub it down, or you can get a polishing wheel attachment for your drill, and some of those dry polishing compounds. dont push too hard though, i bent the shaft of my drill by polishing my tappet covers and various other bits! 😉

Great man, sounds like a plan! I'll definately give it a go...

Also got the custom made-up oil lines for the turbo this morning at a very reasonable price, 100 bucks for inlet and return lines with connections!
Will post pics once the turbo is in, probably on saturday should be done 😀

Got them at The Hydraulic Center in Boksburg in the same road as Mr. Turbo and Topsport Development... Took about an hour for the guy to sort the connections and lines out and make them...

Fitted the turbo yesterday, looking pretty hawt... lol... And also the sprayed intake plenum which looks even hawterer 😮
I gotta post some new pics to show you guys 😀
