thinking of a dastek unichip

O ok.....they must be wrong....

The UNICHIP gives the properly trained technician full control over the timing and mixture functions of most electronically controlled vehicles. Not only can mixtures and timing be set, but also it can be set under various load and RPM conditions. This gives one the ability to optimise the vehicle for economy under light load conditions and set it up for optimum performance under full-throttle conditions.

The UNICHIP is much more than just a "chip". In actual fact it is a fully functioning computer which is added to the vehicle’s existing engine control unit (ECU). Apart from controlling general timing and mixtures it can do idling control, drive extra injectors, take full control over timing functions

Nistune

NIStune uses emulators or one of our daughter boards along with our specialised software to provide tuning capabilities including map tracing and real time editing of maps, constants and tables for your Nissan ECU. All changes are made in real time so you can feel the engine change and watch the outputs from the all sensors while adjustments are made

Seems to me both are a bit the same, nistune seems to be more advanced and a great product!!!!! but.....basics is the same.....

they are both daughter boards(fully functioning computer & daughter boards).....chips..... 😉

Dude on the level that they interface with the hardware you can’t even compare them.

Plus the fine control is not even the same Dasteks pitch sound like a damn infomercial, But how can the chip have such fine control when it still relays on the input of an ECU that most tuner don’t even know the fuel curves of the CA18 or SR20 Ecu’s.

As for "Ero_sennin " Post, Im sick of sugar coating my stuff so people feel all warm inside. If you don’t like the way I’m saying it then don’t read them this isn’t an episode of care bears he ask a question and based on my knowledge I will be as honest as I can, If you don’t like my personality then put up with it. I put up with your

Do you know what the latest unichip can do......do you know the what hardware and software upgrades were made on the latest?

PFB, I know you know alot about stuff, but please, don't try and bluff yourself or us, if it comes to the technical info with which these things are made and how precisely it works and what it does, neither me or you have a clue.

Both interface with the standard ECU, as I said, Nistune is more advanced, basics are still the same.

Don’t assume, because last time I checked you didn’t install a NIStune system or remove a couple of uni-chips, you haven’t tuned the fueling of your car or the timing done or the fuel\timing set-up for someone else or installed bigger injectors or AFM’s, You have no real knowledge of the CA18 or how the stock units work, or the wiring that the Uni’s used that I removed, if you read the same books I have you wouldn’t be arguing about how the unit interface’s or haw they work.

I’m sitting with an SX self tuned returning 10liter per 100Km and great boost response and power,So don’t Assume because you make an @ss out off yourself. So far based on the people that have posted in this topic I have the best knowledge with regards to the ECU, like I said I’m not the best I’m not even close but the guys on this forum need to catch a wake up because all I wanted to do was share my knowledge you are pushing the guys in the know away because your not happy with what they have to say, You guys are closed you don’t want to LEARN you don’t want to accept the fact that your wrong you don’t want to take responsibility for you actions as well.

Seriously it’s a forum it’s about information if you want to argue about the stupid stuff Fine, But this topic has Been a Fine example of the childish arguments that go on here, I frequent a lot of forums and we are the only place where childish stuff like this happens. Rezlo was not arrogant, Hennie was not arrogant they just knew what the hell they where talking about and got sick of arguing with the students. If you know me and I mean personally spoken to me you guys would know I am happy to share all my information.

DDracomoderator09 Jan 2009, 11:03

😂 ass....it seems you can not get past your immaturity, you are right, you know more than me, but you are a long way off from a trained technician that builds something like this.....thus your immature answers attacks and insults.....it's fine dude, thats life.

Your car responds the way it does largely to the "mechanical" upgrades and you have a great chip managing it!!!

Always good chatting to you 😉

DDrillergy09 Jan 2009, 11:30

Guys I think ... just chill out. No ones wrong and no ones right. Its Friday.

Plus I think we need respect and a bit of tolerance. OR just drop it and move on.

And Poizen, do your research on both and make a decision...

I hear good things bout dastek and bad things but remember is its bad stuff about a company thats spreads like wild fire and ppl are quick to shoot it down.

Just my 2c 🙄 :200sx_red_indian:

DDrillergy09 Jan 2009, 11:34

And ppl on this forum should adopt a ChemCool Attitude 8)

Then there would be less arguments. 5c hehehehe

ppoizenmoderator09 Jan 2009, 12:02

why is it wen ever i post things sumhow it ends up in a heated argument hahahhaha sorry guys well the reason i was lookin at the dastek was coz it was in our old car and we removed it so i wont be spending 2k on the chip but i wanted to find out if it would benifit me and my needs while driving i am aware of the nisture and does research on the nistune type 1 board and i was gonna get it but since i have a dastek just lying around i thought mite as well do with what i got at the moment no harm done with a plug and play cos if i dont like it just haveto remove it and bingo back to std i was just concernd that it not what id need but thanks to all that put your inputs in means alot that got m8s that are willing to help out

DDracomoderator09 Jan 2009, 12:42

I was not arguing....I was having a meaningful conversation and lifted my opinion, then my opinion became the object of prejudice towards a unichip, I was not even saying unichip was better 🙄 .....somehow that always happens, rather than lifting your "expert" opinion, you try and discredit someone elses.

I mean it is as easy as....I say...I like an appel, then someones says, I prefer grapes, it's easier to eat and it contains all the sugar you need.

The way it works here is...I say.... I like an appel, then the kid next to me says, appels @ss, it does not taste as sweet as grapes, I know more...your an idiot 😂 😂 and so on and so on.....

Such is the days of our lives.

I am happy like chemcool 😀

Poizen, if you decide to use the unichip, let Maus Performance install and map it, I don't like them or their attitudes but they are the best I know of with a unichip.

If you do a nistune, PFB will show you how 😉

EEro_sennin09 Jan 2009, 13:09

yea prejudice is really a nasty thing,
Isn't maus in pretoria Draco?
poizen and his hot SX is down in durbs me thinks. 😀

I suppose if you have a unichip already you don't have to spend extra cash on buying something else, use it if it is what you need and if you don't like it remove it and get something else later on when you are able.

DDracomoderator09 Jan 2009, 13:12

Isn't maus in pretoria Draco

Um...ya you right, I cind overlooked that little detail 😕

mmario_200sx09 Jan 2009, 16:29

Look, im not as technical as all of you okes, but my advise is pretty simple and its been proven before, the system or management is only as good as the tuner!

You can read what the different systems, daughter-boards and chipos can and cannot do, so decide what you want from the product and do proper research on a very good tuner.

Thats why Im using a plain local management like Dicktator, its at a reasonable price and I have a tuner at Dynotec that really is a wizz with these systems!

My useless 2 cents! 8)

Yup, i agree

sstep9909 Jan 2009, 22:30

IF ur going stand alone, u might consider a Gotech Pro X. R5000 and it has all the functions u'll ever need, including 4 preloaded maps. If u get Gotech to install it for u, even better. Or a dictator system is also said to be very good, never used 1 before, but it gets some good revievs 🙂

PPinkfluffybunnys09 Jan 2009, 22:54

And I'm getting Sick of repeating this to have the best tuners you have to spend the damn money and Im not talking about some guy at dastek but a good tuner that has worked on your engine before and I mean knows it personally.

OR

You cant sit down and be honest with yourself and say I know I'm going to carry on modifying my car like almost every SX member here and taking it to a tuner for him to do the fueling every time I change something is going to cost me plus I will take more time to get my car set-up correctly and get yourself a Wideband a knock-link and a good management system and get clued up on how to tune but this would be a learning experience and everyone here is expert already also all the knowledge of how to tune has left the damn forum because of this childish stuff.

If you guys want to use Uni-chips or boost the stock SX turbo past 1 bar or get the cheapest engine builder to build you motor then complain when it fails then fine do its your money

I mean has the forum guys noticed the knowledgeable people leaving ? You want to know why because they started there own forum for the exchange of knowledge where people that want to learn and accept the fact that they don't know everything.

I mean I learn t that my timing map was set-up incorrectly I accepted the knowledge and grew yet you guys call me childish and immature I really find that pretty fun but I'm sure you guys have pick-up that this issue goes far passed the fact of uni-chips, I also wanted to leave but then I thought screw it I also own an SX

DDoctor G11 Jan 2009, 16:22

@ poizen. Seeing that you have a unichip, just sell it or swop it and get something else. I can vouch for the perfect power SMT6 & 7 which are also piggybacks, and also have 2 maps that can change on the fly. Else get a full management system rather.

I don't know about the 'new' unichips I hear people talking about, but I've had personal experience with the normal unichips and personally I wouldn't recommend them.

I've had it retuned by many 'expert' unichip tuners and always had the same result. Claimed power increases (with dyno graphs to boot) of around 10%, but in real life the car(s) were always weaker. This was on SR20's.

It's almost as if the unichip looses the tune or incorrectly interprets and modify the signals once the car is off the dyno. Every SR20 owner I know of that had a unichip installed has subsequently removed it and had benefits after taking it out.

NNIZAN-R11 Jan 2009, 17:01

I have smt7 for sale without harnas but you can get from perfect power cheap cheap R500

RReeceZ11 Jan 2009, 18:44

Hey poizen. if you're seriously thinkin of Perfect Power, then you can get your stuff from fastcar performance in pinetown. peace 🙂

nn1smo200sx11 Jan 2009, 22:13

Unichip sucks...petrol and power
