I have decided to buy a front cut ( slope top), has everything and run it stock for the mean time, the front cut is R16k and can be started on the floor so can be checked before you buy. If you buy a motor and g/box only its costs around R16k any way so rather buy the front cut and get the ecu, loom, radiator and all the little bits in the engine bay.
SR20T slope top

Awesomeness dude!! where you gonna get it though? didn't know we had S14 front cuts here...
Yip, found 2 places here in jhb who have, one has got one f/cut (japan) but thats a black flat top,and the other orders for you, they give 3 month/5000km guarantee as well, 8k deposit and 2 weeks later when it arrives another 8k ( slope top)and then the fun begins. Its the starting on the floor that makes this attractive, buying loose motors is always a risk.
awesomeness dude! That will make life so much more easier. DO IT!!! 😀 😀

very good choice you made there anthony... other than the engine itself, the wiring harness and ecu make it totally worth it. no having to buy a system, set it up and tune it yourself, its all there as part of the deal.
in fact - with a front cut like that, at that price... you may be the first to do the swap for less than 20k!!!

Umm, I'm sitting at a total of R19100.00 as a total, This includes VVT Motor, 5 Speed Gearbox, Dictator FMS, Installation, Dyno & Possibly a new Radiator if I play my cards right, currently busy with the deal....

OK who is shane and where do I get hold of him ? [GRIN]
hehe, he helped me parts wise... he did a RB conversion in his SX, so all the parts he didn't need I got. thus got the motor for a sweet deal plus a crap load of other stuff too.
Management system wise. I would keep the stock management if possible. If you are gonna keep the motor stock for now there is no point in destroying the loom for a dicktator system.
I also have a S13 with a SR20DET VVT motor. But Im running different cams a few other mods. Tried making the stock system work but my loom was so hacked up I could get it running. So then I opted for the dicktator system.
Goch and Cooper did mine, however I dont think they install systems anymore. They will only tune it. Best bet after them would be Dynotec in Brackenfell.
If I where you, and this is what I wanted to do:
Go with the stock management system. Save up some cash and the first mod you do is buy the Apexi FC Commander management system. Best money you will ever spend!
Send it up to PE to Rezlo (Ian) to get it tuned. Then start to mod your SX. It will save you loads of headache and cash! Just do yourself a favour and read up on the Apexi system and speak to some guys that already have it on their cars.
Dont get me wrong, dicktator is a great local system. I cant complain, except for the cold start that needs to be worked on a bit.
Just my 2c...

OK, I now have confirmation of pricing, I am not going to be paying R19100 after all, and not getting a new Radiator either, but I will be paying as low as R17500 for everything I mentioned before excl. Radiator . . . .
I dont think that is bad going hu ????

Not to bad. especially if the motor is still in a good condition.
