I'd say build one that fits your car... then build a test bench where you test fit it on... then you say you only build them if you have 3 or more...

The problem is it is very difficult to take the braces off without them moving and dont really want to take the chance of them going to JHB and they dont fit.

Wish I could think of something else I need to make, any ideas??

Maybe a 76mm turbo outlet/downpipe??

gary - pictures speak a thousand words so here are some ideas...

for some of these i already have drawings made up, but i've been slow to find engineers capable of making them.

here's a lower internal brace:

vveecee22 Feb 2007, 09:58

how about some adjustable suspension arms???

or some adjustable tie rod ends???

or adjustable front lower braces???

or adjustable camber plates???

That is simple to make, just get the pipe CNC bent, a bit of laser cutting and TIG welding and your done. No offence but I wouldnt put that in my car, its too unpractical.

I would love to make those adjustable suspension arms, they will be easy enough to make. But the problem is I need samples and cant be with out my car 🙁 .

If I had a sample of a short shifter that would be the 1st thing I would make. Its a bit of laser cutting and some turning and milling and its done.

but i'm building a drifter!!!

and ppl are already so cramped back there, whats a little less footspace between buddies!!! the only person who sits in the back of my sx is about 6 foot 1 inch tall!!!!! hahahahaha

wwidowmaker22 Feb 2007, 10:13

why would one need adjustable front lower braces?

vveecee22 Feb 2007, 10:24

cos i like my sx toight, like a toiger!!!

or my best cape accent:

"um chooning u taaait, cuzzie, taaait!!!"

wwidowmaker22 Feb 2007, 10:32

cool, ok, but what im saying is that every when are you gonna adjust it?

vveecee22 Feb 2007, 11:14

right at the beginning, then once its setup, never again!!!

i also think it makes it easier for the engineer to get it "right", because they therefore have room for error. its just that the error can be corrected by the adjustablility!!!

So how are the strut braces, still doing there job?? I took mine off last week just to see the difference and WOW I dont know how I drove without them. The car is all wobbly and floats around.

Mine are still awesome boet.
Let me know when you gonna make the lower bars for the front & rear....I'm not difficult, so they don't have to be adjustable. 😉

Na I heard they dont make any difference. My next handling mod would be new anti-roll bars, I think the STD sx has 20mm I want 27mm and out of a stiffer spring.

I want FLAT cornering.

wwww.MotorCade.co.za29 May 2007, 09:04

The problem with to hard anti-sway bars is the inner wheel starts to lift under hard cornering.

vveecee29 May 2007, 10:12

is that really a problem???

and this is what you mean right?

VVladeadmin29 May 2007, 10:26

I get that with my Polo's back wheel, don't have any shit fitted... Too much roll and it also lifts 😀
