Then you can use the mould and get one made from fibreglass or carbon or both. mine is going to be fibreglass. do u think i can pic up the bonnet over the weekend. my number is 0834435964 so we can arrange.

i will make sure you get it back the same way i got it from you.

caveat: when fibreglass dries it contracts - and the fibre might make little spiderweb marks on the paint... i haven't used a mould that had paint on it, so i'm guessing. one time i started making lights and the one that i used ended up duller than the other. that I could polish out... but paint?

maybe they should put a plastic sheet over first... dunno

if you want to make the mould that would be really cool. can you make it like the one in the picture vlade posted? and how quick can you do it? i am hoping to have a bonnet on my car in 2 weeks or so. can it be done? how much would it cost?

like i said - i haven't had time to polish my nuts the last month.
if samwan can help me research the places where i can buy the CF sheets, then next weekend can go into that kinda game - hows about a braai'nraai ?
the mould is the biggest part of the job - after that you churn them out like hillbrow whores

They wax the parts then spray a gel coat onto it... that way the things don't stick together.

i got back from the pannelbeater. he managed to magicaly pul a band new bonnet out his hat. the good thing is my car wil be ready next week. bad thing is i cant get that bonnet ive been drooling over. thanks to vlade and all who helped. i will get it later

So did anyone find out who will make us stuff out of CF?? I really want my center console done in it.

there are guys in pta who do it. and they will make custom molds too.

i've seen their adverts in SnS.

Any idea on the cost of making the mould of the centre consol and then the consol it self?? Maybe we can all split the cost on the mould??

We contacted them to get a quote on a Golf MK1 dash - rather expensive worked out over R10K, they also didn't want to sell us CF.

I'll ask my buddy I found a site in the UK that supplies mat, its about R250 a square meter.

theres a company near croydon, next to the R24 here that sells all those things related to CF and fibreglass and resins and things.

i could go find out if necessary next week monday???

now we're getting somewhere - just gimme a li'l time for things to settle down - i plan to do this thang!
