it happen to my engine... i replace the timing chain kit... it went away ... but bearing knock comes... rebuild then the VCT gear... Hell i have replace everything inside the block and the head ><

Sure man thanks tried the solenoid and it is defenitely the timing chain. You mention a timing chain kit, where is the best place to source one in JHB?

that with the 2 cam gear... sproket... chain... chain guild... tensioner...

get this just called them its R855 incl vat! bargain! thats the entire kit includes the chain, guides, tentioner etc! 8) now to get help to install it lol

thought Id let you guys know, I just changed the timing chain tensioner and voila the sound is gone 😀 thanks for all the input guys!

it a common problem on high mileage SR20det....
later you will experience a similar sound then it your VTC gear
