Demigod...The hopefull quest for more...

DDracomoderator29 Sept 2011, 07:23

The demigod has water/meth installed, had to sort a few small things but she has tested positive,I finished her off yesterday....now to get the car to tuning....maybe not gonna happen before japfest...my little building project has ripped my ass a new one...I will maybe have to road tune myself untill the money is there again..

Again, thanks to powder for your help!!

Decided to replace cam belt just for incase, did that, checked the timing and lo and behold, timing in front said 25 degrees, on wolf 15,found out how to calabrate the wolf timing(thanks Gary) and did what I needed to do, in front and on the wolf is the same now...and there is space to retard, preveously the cas was on full retard and the timing was 25 digrees.
Because funds are short...she did not go in for tuning, yesterday, I decided it's time, she quinched from 6000rpm, did not want to pull after that, afr was very rich, started leaning her out on top, more and more she pulled..higher in revs, she is now pulling good to 7500rpm, timing on top quite agressive and no signs of detonation, the w/m is doing a hell of a job!!!

I think if she gets to Rob and get a proper tune, she will be wicked!!

I hammered her yesterday plenty while tuning, just before home noticed some steam, saw it's the heater pipe leaking, normal heat guage looked fine, drove home and hit it for last 100m...then smoke everywhere...luckely just steam, the heater puipe came out....checked the wolf and it showed 115 digrees....turned her off emediately...all the water was gone 🙁

I decided to block the heater pipe off, filled her with water to see whether I damaged the head...touch wood...it seems ok...no sign of blown head gasget...took her for a drive again...and all seems ok...

She is ok for japfest....can't wait...!!!

Ja those heater pipes are kak.

DDracomoderator17 Oct 2011, 08:48

Ya...been expecting shit somewhere...head gasget seems ok...just hope the head did not crack or something somewhere...

DDriftZ17 Oct 2011, 19:33

... i blocked my heater pipes off aswell.. but was told to make sure the out flowed back into the in.. rather that just blocking it off completely. apparently it causes problems when just blocked.

DDracomoderator18 Oct 2011, 07:20

Thanks, I thought of that, just scared I end up at the same problem, but will have a look, thanks.

So....she did not make it to japfest..Friday night fine, saturday morning...huge manifold leak, at first it sounded like it was between mani and head and between turbo and mani, I found today that the whole wastegate port is loose...it broke somehow....so everything has to come off to weld it properly....just fabulous!!!

DDracomoderator14 Nov 2011, 09:37

So, this is what I found...

DDanielmoderator14 Nov 2011, 09:56

Good grief! 😮

GGary5714 Nov 2011, 10:56

Common issue, the wastegate should have been supported. Were you running a screamer pipe?? If yes was the screamer pipe supported off the exhaust, if not you had the weight of the wastegate and pipe hanging of a stainless tube that was near melting point, never a good idea...

CCharlvdw14 Nov 2011, 11:17

Thats gonna be a kak one to weld. Think its a good time to add allot of braces to the rest of the mani as well.

DDracomoderator14 Nov 2011, 11:31

Wastegate was put on straight on mani, no screamer, wasted air straight out of wastagate...no pipes connected to the wastegate, the wastegate weighs ...maybe 300 grams...the exell wastegates are very light.

Remember, on friday night there was no leak, saturday morning I heard it on start up....still, I believe if there was a screamer pipe and it was supported, the same would happen...

All welded up, I have let them weld the wastegate port flange to the corner of the turbo flange, that plus the welding should hold it....hopefully...
@ Charl, the mani is supported by a bracket connected to bel housing and downpipe, I was advised not to ad brackets between bends because it would crack because of heat movement

She is dead, murphy is having a field day with me, after the nismo event she has no compression on number 3 cylinder, hopefully it is just valves....yes...I said hopefully....she will stand untill I have money to fix what ever is wrong, that might take some time.

At least I saw now that she is fast enough for 13's on the 1/4 mile and very deacent 1km's, so one day when she works again, I can hopefully stop drawing conclusions and have something on paper.

Even though I broke, I learnt that that little CA is capable of 13's on the 1/4 mile and around a 23 sec on the 1km with a speed of over 220 km/h.

I can not confirm this as they did not take the official time and speed of the 1/4 mile on the 1km run, but I broke just as I shifted to 5th gear and was around 200m to go when I started braking, now I show around 220 km/h in 4th at around 7500 rpm, I ended up going over the 1km line in 25. something seconds at a speed of 165 km/h I think, which means taking an average loss of 1 sec per 100m I could have done it in 23 seconds and over 220km'h on the km...wich is fast.

One day when I get her fixed, I can't wait to see what she does if she does not break.

Seams number 3 injector blocked, causing detonation and damaged either the piston, valves or rings....but there is no compression so it has to be valves or piston.

Ag no man!!! What the hell happend?!

DDracomoderator28 Nov 2011, 12:38

Seems the number 3 injector blocked or something and the rest is history as they say, I am hoping it's mostly head related but we will see...

PP3g4susmoderator28 Nov 2011, 12:41

Waht where you boosting? Did It happen on the Drag?

DDracomoderator28 Nov 2011, 12:47

Yes, was boosting 1.5 bar on the Wolf management, have done that safely before the event.

PP3g4susmoderator28 Nov 2011, 12:51

Did the Water/Meth run?

DDracomoderator28 Nov 2011, 12:58

I tested it afterwords and it seems to be working, but if it did not I would have been lean on all cylinders, 1,2 and 4 is fine, plugs shows fueling is ok.

PP3g4susmoderator28 Nov 2011, 13:00

Shit man, not nice! So you gonna open her?
