Oh wait hold on, I thought you were talking about the T28...can you give me the full Garrett code for it (eg. GT2871R)

Hi Dj

please see the link below for the turbo I purchased...
It does not boost more than 0.5 at peak revs and there no boost at the bottom? is this turbo too large or have I done something wrong - everyone told me the turbo should work fine.....

It looks as though it will work fine. Shouldn't have much more lag than standard. at what rpm do you reach full boost?

I suspect it has a .5 bar actuator. You should look at getting a boost controller, a manual bleed valve should work fine.

It kicks in very very late, at about 5000rpm it starts to gain boost - the actuator is adjustable. I have no idea why the turbo is'nt boosting sooner - everyone told me it would work fine. I'm clueless. this was the only turbo that mr. turbo stock that would fit my standard exhaust outlet.

5k rpm 😮 holy smokes. is it possible to check if the wastegate is stuck open?

Wastegate is properly closed with some tension on the actuator keeping it shut. it came to me as a shock when I drove it today and there was no power. verry dissapointed after all the labour....

what is the housing sizes?

rratadmin17 Apr 2011, 21:43

you can always unplug the wastegate and see what happens just dont let it go over a bar

Compressor looks good but the exhaust is alil to big

You need a 0.48 to be like stock

so that it why it's not spinning up then.......so it's too big.

I think so yes

On my sr20 I get full boost at 4000rpm with a 0.63 housing

Just double check you may be able to put the exhaust housing of your old turbo on it should just swop over just check the wheel sizes

Thanx guys

I disagree, a standard non BB T28 from a S14 has a .64 turbine housing and spools only slightly later than a S13 T25

aarno17 Apr 2011, 22:18

now i am confused - it's not spooling correctly so i'm starting to think there is too litle exhaust gas to drive the new turbine... what else can cause it not to spool?

aarno17 Apr 2011, 22:28

S14 produces more exhaust gas because it is a 2l....

I should probably have been more specific...a S14 T28 on a CA18DET spools only a couple hundred rpm later than the standard T25.

So it should work... Let me give the guy who has to dyno it for me a call tommorrow and see what he has to say.

Here are your pics

I've never compared my T28 to my T25 like this, but if you can wait till the long weekend I can compare with my spares from the two.
