rebuild your engine could be another good option if you know someone good that get the job done right^^

Another thing I forgot to mention, the engine number is filed off, I dont know how the previous guy got it through roadworthy.

So I rather put another engine in

yeah. take the plunge and get the notchtop. pull your motor and swap it. straight forward.

The FWD can be put in the s-body, they even sell the kit in the USA for it. The vvl head is a much more reliable one (less moving parts) but the costs involved in the swap far outweighs the rewards. The major obstical is the dizzy position.

If you need to talk to someone, speak to someone who specialises in these cars.

PS. waste of time putting a SR20DE in there, just find a notch top RWD SR and stop messing about with different versions unless you have a very good reason for going for a different version.

I rather have my car they way it should be. If that guy says I should put another engine in ..... :200sx_2guns: this mechanic is peeving me off

I second the rebuild because then you know you are getting a fresh good engine. The hardest part is finding a reputable engine builder.

Pity you are in pretoria as I know of a very good engine builder here in cpt.

Rebuild only if the block are in good shape... my bore was measure stock after 240k on it... so i did't bore and put bigger piston's

My car engine bay on 4 June 2011

aaep88617 Jun 2011, 20:13

That gives me such relief 😮

That is seriously sketch...engine number filed off.

I recon buy a notch top then bud and hope for the best. If it fails then rebuild it properly.

I wouldn't mind the block if you want rid of it, looking for a nice small engine block as a table base.

The car was running fine, wasn't losing oil or water, until I went to JHB and back

so what is wrong with the engine? bearing knock?

Yeah, sometimes the car struggled to start, one night driving it just died on me, next day I started it and went directly to the mechanic driving slowly, was making a knocking sound and was almost cutting out when coming to a stop. but I made it there.
