Hi All

I want S14 but its abit ugly compared to S13 (dons firesuit).
It costs abit more.
It cost alot more to insure. (I'm only 24)
But its better all round car.
mmmmmmmm im stuck.

your insurance will drop soon. take the s14 unless you can't afford it. if you don't eat, you can't drive..well not for long anyway.

you can always do something about the s14's looks.

vveecee11 Jun 2007, 11:19

an s14 with a sublte kit is a thing to behold actually.

you also get a lot better standard equipment, look at brakes, engine, hubs, etc.

you wont be disappointed with a decent s14!

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 11:50

Let me put it this way.

I got a bunch of cash lying around.
But not quite enough for a 200SX.
So my dad is willing to lend me the difference.
So from the sellers poinf-of-view he gets the the full amount in his hand.

NO BANKS involved ..l.

But then i need to pay my dad back. Thats all.

So if i get S13 it will take me 3 to 4 months to pay him back.
If i get the S14 it will take 12 months to pay him back.

Im not going to mention actual money figures here.

But this time i wont even try to mod anything untill i have paid my dad back.
Too be quite honest i dont want to mod the crap out the car.
Some rims a cone filter and exhaust will be fine.

Then when i got more cach much later on i will decide.
Maybe i will mod more.
Maybe sell as is for something else in 2+ years.
Maybe pack my bags and use my EU passport.

I cant think straight here at work now.

vveecee11 Jun 2007, 12:02

you have an EU passport???

then dont bother at all with sx's, maybe go get a job in the EU somewhere!!!

i know i would!

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 12:27

Yes @ EU passport.

I'm a portuguese citizen.
I checked and i can go live and work in any EU country.
But im not in such a hurry to leave SA.

We got some nice things here.
Well ok SA is running out of reasons for me too stay but i still love SA. (thats untill i get shot or somthng)

S13...S14....S13....S14...dammit.

WWooHaa11 Jun 2007, 12:37

@ Phobos.

I see you delimma....
I would buy an S13 & put an S14 motor in it.....yeaa.....my future future mod.

vveecee11 Jun 2007, 12:37

ok - lets look at it from a different angle.

s13's are no longer as cheap as they used to be. if you find one for 40 grand you're lucky. more likely to be 50 grand.

s14's are generally around 80 grand, but also seem to be climbing a bit, although not quite as fast as the s13.

i reckon the s14 is a better car, from a technology point of view.

but they both require their maintenance. so if you are borrowing money to buy an sx, and dont want to modify anything for at least a year, i would say buy something cheaper and more reliable.

you will need moeny to maintain this car, otherwise dont even think of buying one!!!

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 12:50

Good points there.

Thats why i want to pay off as fast as possible.

Remember i had an S13 upto just 2 weeks ago.
So i know they not cheap to look after.

How much more expsive is the S14 to look after though. Thats still not 100% clear to me. Only a person who's had both can really know though.

hehehehe what other cheaper car u had in mind?
Citi Golf? I thought of that too. I could by a used 1 today in cash and still have abit of change. Tempting. (But they boring and everyu 2nd person has 1)

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 13:12

Hey?

I read alll that but im still lost. HAHAHAHA
Must be having a blond day. Big words and all.

There's no way i could bring that here.
Guv-ment wont like it. And KZN cops would pull me over and ticket me for every non-SABS approved part. hehehehehe

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 14:11

To be quite honest I'm leaning more towards the S13 as it's alot more affordable for me at this point in time.

I can be debt free in 3 to 4 months.
My insurance was R566 for my 1993 S13.
They told me a 1996 S14 would be about R1100.
Hopefully when i turn 25 at the end of this year the insurace goes down like its suppose to. ..l.

Oh well. All i can do is read up on both cars and see how much better the S14 is and if its worth the extra $$$$$$

dude, its easy, buy the s14, go work in europe for 6 months to 2yrs and IF you come back at least you'll have some # for crazy mods.

oh and to be safe leave the car with me while you're gone. 😉

GGary5711 Jun 2007, 14:17

U have your mind set on a S14 and wont be happy with a S13.

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 14:32

I need a few days to think about it.
I can see this will take for ever to choose.

U know what. Screw it! Let me just fly to Joberg and drive both and see what my heart chooses.

I see Dislex666 red one in his signiture and it looks really nice from the side.
It's that back bumper that puts me off. I'm gonna have people crash into me cause its sooo ugly. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

GGary5711 Jun 2007, 14:46

Problem is if you get to JHB and dont like any you then have a problem!!

PPHOBOS11 Jun 2007, 15:01

Not really. Well besides the wasteing money on tickets going there and back.

If i wait another month or 2 after that i will have even more cash.
I will have gone insane due to not having a nice car but thats ok.

Where is Dislex666 anyway.
He has S14. I want his view on owning an S14.
Oh and other S14 owners are welcome too.

GGary5711 Jun 2007, 15:16

What about a MR2, the old RWD one?? Someone was selling one on here, I wanted that car so bad before I got my sx.

CChemCooladmin11 Jun 2007, 15:39

can be debt free in 3 to 4 months.
