hmmm, yea i see they seem legit, according to all the raving forums in the states.

I'll take some pics of all the stuff that I plan on installing over the next few weeks before painting.

Was cleaning out the cellar in my house over the weekend and found boxes of goodies that I've collected over the years for this build. Trying to get it organised so that when the mechanicals are done, the suspension and bodywork can commence.

Was hoping to have it 100% complete by end of May, but the booking for the management install has about a 3 week waiting period.

Hope that happens quick 🙂

Okay folks... I think an update is looooooong overdue!!!

So! I finally have a bit of progress / feedback!
SR swap went by without any major complications until it was time for installation of the ECU. The car was dropped off at JMS in Boksburg for installation of the Haltech and for it's associated dyno. This happened over 3 months ago. After many phone calls and visits to said "Tuner", the car was eventually fetched from them about 2 weeks ago.

It was then taken to RBTS where within a week the following issues where discovered:
1. The unit was installed and then removed as to "hide" any mistakes that may have been made.
2. The Ignition output No 1 is dead and is not providing any signal.
3. The unit itself has been opened up and tampered with as there are signs of irregular soldering and electronic components fitted do not appear to be genuine Haltech parts.

In my opinion these so-called tuners at JMS f*cked it up! There is no other way to put it!

I will now collect the unit and have it shipped back to Australia for repairs. The shipping and customs costs alone total almost R2000... NOT COOL. The technical support for Haltech are very helpfull and even offered to do technical support on the phone if needed.

This has really set me back as I was hoping to have the car done by end of June this year...

On a lighter note:
My TE37's arrived - no not replica's
Took my Nismo cluster apart and gave it a good clean
I will go and fetch my car and store it in the basement at my office so that I can at least do some work on it in the meantime in preparation for the bodywork and interior. This will also finally give me the opportunity to take off and photograph many of the parts for sale to guys like Jason & Keagan... my apologies for being slack on that.

lol no stress dude i understand how this kak goes i cant believe that they blew your haltech tried to fix it and probably broke it even more and then will offer nothing to make up for it. its pathetic if you ask me

Happy New Year and welcome back to those that have been away over the December break!

So my Christmas present this year was definitely one of the best I've ever received. I collected my SX from the Frix Drifting workshop a few days before Christmas! The car is still not 100% yet as there is still a misfire on cylinder #3. We suspect a valve that is not seated properly.
Here's a pic of the engine bay when I collected her.
image (3).jpeg The ECU has not been tuned properly yet as this fear of it being fueling to cyl #3 and may run lean. Once it's sorted then the final tune can happen. At the moment we are looking at 132wkw at 0,45 bar boost. This is also causing a flatspot at low revs. As per the recommendation of the Tuner, I added a bottle of Valve Ease for 2 x tanks of fuel. This has not helped, so it's time to remove the head and see whats the problem.

A compression test was done, so the bottom end appears fine.

Driveability and low down torque is rather pleasant and makes the car easy to drive. The aim is to use this as a daily and this setup is perfect. Been using the car almost everyday since then and loving it!

Items I still need to finalise are the following:
- Installation of new boost pipes. I am having some aluminium piping made up so that I can powdercoat it matt black.
- Replace all blue silicone hoses to black to compliment the matt black piping.
- Replace existing DV with genuine HKS unit
- Replace existing FPR with new Tomei unit image (2).jpeg - Replace temp radiator when new Mishimoto unit arrives
- Installation of new AEM Boost Controller for final tune. image (1).jpeg I've cleaned up the engine bay a bit with the power sprayer. Also installed OEM radiator fan cowling from a S15. image (5).jpeg Some work on the Type X transformation has started. Original bumper removed. image (10).jpeg more updates to follow...

HHotstuff09 Jan 2014, 12:13

So I am still undecided on the side skirts and I am definitely not keen on the Type X variants.

I've purchased a set of Bomex units and this is what it looks like test fitted to the car.

before: image (6).jpeg after: image (7).jpeg In my opinion it bows too much in the middle. Will see how it reads with the new bumpers on and then decide.

SSonOfAnarchy ZAadmin09 Jan 2014, 12:18

i like it but tend to agree with you but rather get the full kit on and then see how it looks

DDrillergy09 Jan 2014, 12:22

Those bomex would suit tge type X kit as its not too big.

Anyways some inspiration.

I think they can work.

HHotstuff09 Jan 2014, 12:36

These are what I have in mind... The best part these ones are that they are plastic and OEM Nissan. Busy finalising a deal with my regular supplier in Japland. photo 2.JPG

Nat that is perfect.

you will need to roll the fender lips in

A bit of progress over the past few days...
Front bumper has been taken away for plastic welding. As you can see, the portion where the numberplate goes, has a hole cut into it for better airflow. My intention is to get it back to stock.
Here is the "before" pic... will post pics of fixed up bumper upon return. IMG_3494.jpg I've also started cleaning up all the cables and wiring below the dash. The car is currently having it's new alarm system installed. I've asked specifically for all the unnecessary wires to be removed. The existing units have 3 x boxes, for alarm, central locking and immobiliser respectively. Each one of these is about the size of a cigarette box. These will now be removed and replaced with 1 x unit the size of an iphone. The new setup will also have a auto window up feature.
This is what the mess currently looks like: IMG_9343.JPG Removed the old damaged and faded window tint. Looks waaaaaay better now. IMlG_9275.JPG
