😢 can you remove the std fan and put a electrical fan in its place.
Electrical vs engine fan
yes.
search and ye shal find.
there have been many "discussions" about this on the forum in the past!!!
No not really I've noticed if the fan is too strong it slows my car down, cause it blows air to the front, but if it sucks then its fine. 😂 😂
Yeah one can do it... just make sure you get decent fans that have a good cfm rating... think you need about 1600cfm in total to have good cooling.
Thanx. And ill do a search
ye, it works like a bomb, just remember to wire it so it comes on aswell when you switch the aircon on, not only at a certain temp, many forget to do it.
Or you can wire a toccle swiths in for when you use the aircon or when you feel you want it to run all the time in hot wheather
eish Draco man, LOL. I hope you mean as an override, 😉
Override, underride, derride, upsideride ,downride......that is what I meant believe it cos it's true 😂
now THAT was cunfusing!
:200sx_ban:
True, true. I'll wire it to the aircon and thermostat as well as having an overide switch for those hot days. But where in capetown can i source 2 fans? Will 200sti fans work? I checked they have 2 fans on the radiator.
stupid question is there a problem with the stock fan? If not dont waste your time and money fixing somethiong that aint broke.
Rather spend it on the brakes or Suspension which more than likely need lots of TLC
Well no there's nothing wrong with it... But doesnt the std fan rob power? And ja i do need to upgrade the suspension and brakes;)
The std fan has a viscous coupling so it only works at low speeds. Also its a little known fact but any electrical thing robs power as it places a laod on the alternator.
There are no free lunches
Ah ok. So i'll rather spend the money on the suspension.

I told you. Running in circles. 😂

i hate to hear you say i told you so!!! or even "i told that he told you so!!!"
and running in circles makes you look silly! and dizzy!

Appropriate. Nicely said. 😂
mmm yep no free lunches...
but!
you need a fan most on hot sunny days, eh?
and you wont have to paint your roof black 😉

it loads the alternater, taking power, but that's only when they are on/running. Even with my V8 and the bigger radiator they rarely come on, mostly only when I'm stationary for a long time.
low speed or low rpm? Big difference. The fan works all the time but being viscous means it got only a certain amount of "friction" that makes it turn, so it'll turn up to the speed where the load being created by sucking the air equals the "friction" of the viscous coupling, after that the fan speed stays constant while the engine still revs higher, so ye, it takes power from start to finish but the power robbing stays constant when that equal point are met.
