andre conradi
runs a 10 sec quater mile on his Rb25 with a big ass turbo

a stock Rb25 will give you about 230kws on the wheels, as per andre

looking about R50k engine gearbox everything
he did a quote for me a while back

2200SX MP09 Oct 2007, 07:09

RB25 will be damn nice to have but when i check those prices out it is not gona be cheap your looking at a 100k ๐Ÿ˜ข to get a 10 second car i would love 2 have a 10 sec car thou ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

jjap spec12 Oct 2007, 07:51

Its not 40k

Gearbox and Motor - R15000
Management fitted - Dictator - R4000
Cooler piping - R1500
Cooler - R1000
Driveshaft - R1500
Fitting Motor - its about 4k in PE, or R1500 if you supply parts and material...

Thats - R28000.... im sure it could be done for less.... - make up own boost pipes - use an s14 cooler or something - dictator - costs about 1500 if you know someone, wire it up yourself... mapping is like a grand....
Could be looking as low as R18500 with some help from some friends.... Had this setup doen but in another car... cost the R28000...that included the exhaust, surge tank, extra fuel pump, moving the battery, and ive got launch control.....

No where near 40k.... Ran 0.6 bar - 245kw on the fly...

Cool ...

Well there you go R 30 000 ๐Ÿ˜‚

I just have one question (Not causing Shit at all) , What about the RB rebuild?
You will need to at least replace the belts, Cam belt, water pump, TURBO rebuild maybe ,maybe oil pump on any imported motor.

Minimum a service, Possibly a clutch depending on motor condition

also what about the harness, ,Rev counter calibration, Electric fans and so on. Never Mind Air con, power steering . ect

To me there two options, Do the swap to like a drift pig it can be done cheaply and who cares about the Speedo and rev counter also if it blows smoke an dies after 6 months.

And then theres doing it right, It up to who ever is doing the Swap

I didnt.... i have had a problem, but technically its my fault... going to track everyday and dragging with it every second i could caused blow by on teh rings now... otherwise the motor and everything is still perfect... i have pulled it out already.....going forged.....

Now what would the difference be for a RB26DETT?? I am not looking to do this mod but if I were I would go for the real makoya.

PPhinx12 Oct 2007, 08:23

The RB26dett is like silly money .
I will need to phone around again

jjap spec12 Oct 2007, 10:52

the 26 with box is about 26k.... if you going more than 400kw on teh wheels, maybe the 26 is an option.... if the guy up there is running in the 10's with a 25, who you trying to fool with a 26?

GGary5712 Oct 2007, 11:05

No just saying a RB26DETT would be cool. I mean that is "the skyline" motor, just would be cool.

ggregT12 Oct 2007, 18:54

I agree gary, and also i dont think many people have done it. ive seen one or two on youtube buts thats about it. but i think for an everyday drive the 25 is perfect for power. but then again its never enough once its in.

cost depends how long you want it to last,

By a cheap import the chances are it will last a few weeks and die, and have a look at how much RB parts cost, the key to keeping and RB25 alive is a PERFECT tune and an ECU that has a good knock retard ability, if its out and has even the smallest amount of detonation it will collapse the rings and most of the time crack the ring landings off which destroys the head, try buy a 2nd hand RB25 head ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have been raping my RB for 18 months now as an every day car and a load of drag and track events, and it still has a perfect 160psi over all 6, I have had odd quirks with the electrics, but never once had a mechanical problem.

Getting it to work well in an S chassis is not cheap though, there is a lot that needs to be changed and even when doing it yourself it still costs a whole bunch.

Unless you go el-getto, in which case it is semi cheap, until it brakes, which usualy doesnt take long.

I would suggest as a minimum that you change the timing belt, tensioners and water pump when buying an RB25,
