Skimmed Head??

CCharlvdw31 Jan 2008, 08:55

Hi guys

I think my head has been skimmed a bit over eagerly. Any solutions? The guy at dastek also rekons so cause if you boost more than .7bar the car starts to detonate.

Whats the timing set to?

You could buy a thicker MHG than the standard size, just dont ask me where 😕

How does a copper head gasget work on these cars?

DDracomoderator31 Jan 2008, 10:02

did you do a compression test.....compare yours to what the manual says...

DDoctor G31 Jan 2008, 10:05

time for water meth injection 😈

CCharlvdw31 Jan 2008, 10:12

I dit do a comp test and its a bit lower than the manual say, but they are all the same. Dont trust the gauge that much thou.

If your compression is lower than the manual I would not say that is your problem....I suspect it is a bit lower than the manuel says....so even if the guage is not on the dot it is not a big factor.

DDanielmoderator31 Jan 2008, 11:06

I actually have the same problem, comp readings are way low, but even on all cylinders.

havent tried another gauge yet though and i did it with a cold engine wich affects results. I 1st need to sort my radiator problem and then il move onto that

DDracomoderator31 Jan 2008, 11:17

Me and freddy also got low readings, I don't know what his is reading now but mine read the same after my rebuild.....

My car just goes kak, acording to the dyno printout it whent from 105kw @ 5500rpm before the chip to 132kw@ 6000 after. I belive thats on the wheels.

PPhinx31 Jan 2008, 11:51

Is there a Dyno graph for before and after?

CCharlvdw31 Jan 2008, 12:06

Yes there is. Thats where i get the info from.

DDracomoderator31 Jan 2008, 12:08

Actually that is spot on for the amount of mods you got....what mods you got?

GGary5731 Jan 2008, 12:19

Post the dyno sheet.

CCharlvdw31 Jan 2008, 12:22

57mm xhaust, unichip. How do i post the sheet?

DDracomoderator31 Jan 2008, 12:28

Load your photo on a photo hosting site like photobucket and use the image link to post it here..

GGary5731 Jan 2008, 12:32

scan it, host it on a site like photobucket or something, then copy it in. There is a sticky on that somewhere.

Don't dis your power....if you only have 0.7 bar boost, the chip and a 57mm exsorst, 135kw on the wheels is good, although all dynas differ and the totals can not be compared, that is still a good gain and power rating.
