Cam timing on ca18de

Where must al the marks line up because both of my pulley marks are a half tooth out

They need to be spot on...

All three marks need to be correct or expect a lazy CA or no comp don't use the mark on the pulley use the mark on the sprocket as it can be out

With the CA, even the cam belt tension can through these out.

If i count the cogs between the cam gears and the cam and pulley gear its correct but both cam gears are just over the marks like 2 mm if its on tdc so somethings not right and i cant figure out what

The CA motor can be a bi@tch to get this correct the first time, I found that I had to do the timing, tension the belt then cycle the engine a few revolution by hand and retention to get all the marks correctly lined up.

Like PFB said. After the belt is tensioned it'll move the marks closer to lining up and then rotate the motor a 2 or 3 times and the marks should line up perfectly.

If it isn't then something is wrong - count the teeth again and re-install. Rather do it again than stuffing up your motor.

Can it be that the cam belt may be stretched a bit thus the marks dont line up exactly

Then replace it ASAP!!! If it's stretching that much it's gonna break...and then 😢 😢 😢 😢
