Branch and Free Flow

sup guys , i just got a quote for a custom branch and free flow exhaust for R2850, is that a good price, i got the quote from Kwik fit

SSpeed breeder28 Aug 2009, 12:49

free flow = 2 silencers vs a standard 3.

on a turbo car you only need a back box really unless you want a fairly quiet car

to answer your question price seems good considering they are giving you a branch or manifold.

mild or stainless system and what size xhaust?

RRiekertadmin28 Aug 2009, 12:52

not to bad... but why the branch?

you need a downpipe for the turbo and then the exhaust.

Also whats the size? 63mm? 76mm?

KKCSX28 Aug 2009, 13:36

its a 52 mm exhaust, wouldnt a branch give me more power

We are talking about a SX exhaust here right?

KKCSX28 Aug 2009, 13:39

ya , why , i new 52mm seemed a bit small

RRiekertadmin28 Aug 2009, 13:47

yeah the stock one is 52, so you wouldn't gain anything. and a branch will only work if you don't have a turbo on the car.

So with that... the R2800 is way to much to pay for that system. You need at least a 63mm exhaust, and you don't need a branch.

I got a qoute form HiQ for R1300 for a 63mm freeflow. and I supply my own downpipe.

So I think shop around a bit more.

You should be able to get a full 76mm exhaust for around R3k

rratadmin28 Aug 2009, 13:50

76mm! 2 box if you want it quiet, 1 box most people go for. And try for a down pipe as well. Manifold equal length would be nice but if you still running the std turbo i don't see it making much difference

KKCSX28 Aug 2009, 14:01

which would give me the most gain? 63mm Or 76mm

rratadmin28 Aug 2009, 14:02

76mm do it right the first time. Will help for any bigger mods later

76mm, with turbo cars less restriction is best.

RRiekertadmin28 Aug 2009, 14:14

Jip... Like the two above me said... 😈

SSpeed breeder28 Aug 2009, 14:28

branch (some people call the turbo manifolds, turbo branches) will also have gains, even on standard turbo as long as the flow is better than the previous setup...thus creating greater velocity at lower RPM improving low end torque and responsiveness...

there is no guarantee though seeing its a custom "branch"/manifold...

as previously stated, make sure the guys at this place know what an SX is first...

this topic including pricing has been discussed a couple of times and prices for just the exhaust including downpipe range between R1200 to R4000 depending on what system is chosen. (R4000 being the stainless 76mm pipe) - thus excluding the manifold

TTHEO 3K - ZN28 Aug 2009, 14:59

Std sx down pipe is 63mm, right?

f thats true, then can you put a 76mm exhaust flanged to 63mm down pipe?

Or must you change the down pipe to a 76mm?

so guys i really dont need a branch manifold , what about one those top mount manifolds i keep hearing about , would one of those give me more power?

yes they would but think the exhaust is the first step

going top mount is alot of money cause you have to make up new oil and water lines for the turbo. also be careful of some of the aftermarket manifolds if there quality is not that great they end up cracking

SSpeed breeder31 Aug 2009, 07:34

most of those top mount manifolds for the ca18det are for a t3 foot, so t25 or t28 won't fit on them...
