Fuel Consumption

What fuel consumption do you guy get??

I got about 8Km/Lt with the stock ECU and unichip, now with the wolf its down to 5Km/Lt ๐Ÿ˜ฎ . I am going to get it tuned again, cause that is far too high.

5km/l is a bit extreme...

i get about 6.7 odd. And I don't do much highway driving, and quite a bit of VOETinnieHOEK driving ๐Ÿ™‚

Its easy to get smoothness if you pour the fuel in the trick is getting smoothness with fuel economy and thats what takes time. Which is one of the reasons I take as long as I do to do a map job ๐Ÿ™‚

jip me also get 5km/l so mr calibrator ehem, i be coming your way. some day ๐Ÿ™‚

VVladeadmin08 Mar 2007, 06:27

I think after Duane had mine I did about 8-10km/l if you don't floor it, which was beter than the stock ECU mine was low 6-7km/l... Gary that is why my map is lean low down ๐Ÿ˜€

BTW: when you sending me your map?

DDracomoderator08 Mar 2007, 08:44

Ya I get about 7.8 km/l on the highway, in traffic it should be 1 of those 5km/l jobbies.

VVladeadmin08 Mar 2007, 10:25

Yeah I must add, those figures of mine is also mostly highway driving and some weekend city driving

vveecee08 Mar 2007, 11:15

mine is about 8km's/l, maybe a little more if i didnt give it horns everywhere!!!!

i drive it quite hard, unless its slow freeway traffic, but then i hammer it as soon as i am off the freeway!!!

maybe thats why murphy is always on my right shoulder!!!

CCharl08 Mar 2007, 12:39

If i remember, toby was getting about 10 or 11km/l... TOBY??? ๐Ÿ˜•

DDracomoderator08 Mar 2007, 13:01

Freddy also got 10km/l.....I wish

DDislex66608 Mar 2007, 15:44

damn... now i don't feel so bad about my 6.summing km/l anymore. Seeing as i pwn you all in the performance area ๐Ÿ˜›

GGary5708 Mar 2007, 15:48

6Km/Lt is crazy!! I used to get 8Km/Lt if I drove it nicely, VERY nicely.

DDanielmoderator08 Mar 2007, 16:29

i drove from centurion to Petermaritzburg on a tank. 550'ish ๐Ÿ˜• km. Not very scientific i know, but i dont want to see how bad my fuel consumtion is. Especially considering i could do the same distance and half way back with my previous car...

and it never broke.

I did once work out to having 3km/L ๐Ÿ˜ฎ but i was giving it serious welly that day

WWooHaa08 Mar 2007, 17:17

My SX gives me about 10 to 11 litres per 100KM in city driving.
On the highway, I get about 9litres per 100KM, but that's also not going faster then 150KM/H

My bike costs R70.00 to fill that tank. That's the expensive 95 Octane. I get 290KM of a tank if I drive nicley, or 220KM if I keep it at 190KM/h all the time. That's off 12 frieken litres!!!!!
I think I should put my bike motor in my car! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

im gonna get flack for this, but
still, maybe just a point for everyone that wants to "upgrade" their cars, sx or other
it makes me wonder if all these mods are for the better - sure it might raise your dyno chart by 10% or 200%, but why does it always end up with people bitching about their bottom line - consumption?
surely you must realise that we live in SA and that it is gonna bite you in the arse at some time?

my dad used to say something in the line of : "if the highly trained engineers that DESIGNED and worked out the blueprints and had every technological thing possible at their disposal, including hundreds of combined years and big budgets and wind tunnels and and and - if they put a car (for example - could be any product) together, W T F makes you think some cowboy in Welkom can fit stuff willy-nilly and 'improve' on all those li'l
clever japanese chinas?"

i see this every fbloody day

sure, your comeback would be that technology has improved, but think for a second - maybe some Welkom china is just trying to sell you on an idea to just fix his month end, and he will be your bestest of friends before you pay for his "expertise", then after that?

that is when we all start blaming poor Murphy.
(Freddy Murphy? werent you in Police Academy?)

maketh one think, innit?

CCharl08 Mar 2007, 22:08

You have a valid point widow! But i know i have a problem seeing that i'm only boosting 0.8 at the moment, so i know i can improve after dyno... Dont know bout the rest of the guys

WWooHaa08 Mar 2007, 23:09

I agree with Widowmaker......
I have too as we both had a couple of beers together & he is now officially my drinking buddy.

If you're gonna mod the damn thing then never complain about fuel consumption......Unless you get 13litres per hundred & Little corsa bakkies are whippen yo ass.

TTobyadmin09 Mar 2007, 07:15

Ya I was getting over 9km/l when driving "hard" (you know I never really drive hard - I never floor the pedal 'cos I feel like that might break the engine ๐Ÿ™‚ ) but under tame driving I was getting around 11km/l. That was before the Chip Logic re-map. Dunno what it does after the remap 'cos I've had all sorts of problems since then that prevented me from driving a full tank of petrol ๐Ÿ™

My take on aftermarket fuel management systems is that they don't run optimally, they pump juice to get your car going, and so you will suffer with poor fuel economy. The stock ECU is incredibly complex in it's programming - the most I'd ever consider is a piggy-back so that I still have the features of the stock ECU. That's just my uneducated take based on what I've observed.

DDracomoderator09 Mar 2007, 08:40

I use to gap my plugs 0.6, I changed it to 0.8 witch braught some probs but that seemed to pass, I don't know if I am emagining myself but the car seems lighter on petrol now.....am I imagining myself?
