you sure you not talking about T25/28?
T3 is top mount???

On the 20Det Motor 25/28 and on th RB25 a T3. Sorry, did not know what you've got 😕

gt2876r goes like stink with some cams

ddjtreble13 Dec 2010, 16:53

Yeah GT2876R is the biggest I've had and I couldn't imagine much else fitting in there. But you need to do some work to get it to spool acceptably early enough. I did everything I could excpet for some cams and it hit full boost at 4500 rpm on a CA18DET.

i am thinking on doing gt2871r on my ca will it be good with the a 53 rear housing?

ddjtreble14 Dec 2010, 10:31

They are all 53.8mm on the rear (exhaust) housing from Garret

On the Compressor side however, you get the following:

52 Trim = 51.2mm = 250-400 bhp
56 Trim = 53.1mm = 280-475 bhp

The 56 Trim is laggier, commonly people go for the 52 Trim as it's a good balance between power and spool time on the CA and SR (smaller capacity engines)

There are other versions available but they are rare as far as I know.

See here for Garrett's tech sheet on 2871 and more in the range:

maybe i must just go top mount like my old setup on the S15.....GT3037S-pro^^

ddjtreble14 Dec 2010, 18:19

What are you looking at achieving?

the setup on my S15... HKS2,2 +GT3037s-Pro = 450hp at rear wheel
@ 1,9bar

ddjtreble14 Dec 2010, 18:22

If you don't want to go top mount then you can get that out of a GT2876R with the 56 Trim at a stretch.

Either way you are looking at a laggy car unless you go heavy into cams, etc.

Sounds like a beast though! 😈

aaep88614 Dec 2010, 18:25

on the GT3037s-pro turbo only kicks in at 4000rpm...
so would expect the GT28 no later then that....

ddjtreble14 Dec 2010, 18:26

I don't have personal experience with the GT30's, is that proven or by hear-say?

forgot to say i have Stage 3 head package from HKS too... GT30pro... is the best i have experience... i had Trust T67-25G on the same setup with 398hp... and it has much bigger compressor but it came no where near the GT30 pro

ddjtreble14 Dec 2010, 18:38

Sounds good!

But the 4k spool is down to the head package, so a GT2876R might be quicker?

And I just realised it now, you have a S15? In SA?
