Heh, yea, Vlade warned me about this yesterday when we were building my engine. My torque wrench starts at 14Nm anyway, but I snapped one of the bolts too. Just hand tighten it - 10Nm is very low anyway.

okaaayyyyy, so what is the head bolt torque suposed to be, me not see it in the manual. and also the festening sequence, is it the same as the cam caps? inward to outwards?
dankie julle 🙄
ooit my bru,
daars a sequence, en dit is nie inwards to outwards nie!!!
do you have the manual??? its all in the "engine mechanical" section.
the torque on the cam caps is very low, and the on the headbolts is first to 90nm's or something and then to 130nm's. but i'm not exactly sure cos the manual is all the way in the garage.
my point is that there is a specific sequence, and a specific torque setting for both the cam cap bolts and the head bolts!
yap. if someone could tell me what page it is on. but im missing pages from 16 - 25 in the head assembly section. i wasn't planning on 10 nm 😉
Charl, you need to download the full manual. it is all on there. And listen to what Toby said, torque with hand. 10nm is low.

how come no-one ever listens to what i say???
you really should get a torque wrench that reads that low.
i will check what pages in the manual and post it now now - as in a few hours time. or maybe tomorrow, depends on how long it takes for the Ouzo to wear off!!!
Yes VC, cant argu with you on this one. You right. get the right tools for the job 8)

ai tog! 😮
1. cam caps fastened! 100% that is in the owners manual
2. head not fastened with the h e a d b o l t s. i need the torque settings and tightnng sequence for the h e a d b o l t s 😀
where do i get the full manual, i have downloaded three now from different sites but they are all the same
is ok, google helped. 1stly to 29 nm then to 103. loosen all and repeat
Tightening order
9 3 1 5 7
8 6 2 4 10
Perfect... 103 is correct... not like my signature... my arp's went 109
so after some stress of not knowing if the timing belt was set right, two beers to relax and then the guts to turn the key, she runs 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮
Great Charl.

awesome man...
may you have many happy km's!!! 😀
Awesome Charl!! Does this mean you joining us tomorrow? 😀 This is fantastic news! I love it when a rebuild works out 🙂

somethings still wrong, its still overheating exactly like it did before...maby even quicker! 😢
HELP!!!! HELP!!!!and even worse now i think i put something back wrong coz its driving horrid, engine sounds beter than before but pulls like its running on 3cyl 😕
just run out of time, you cant believe everything that can go wrong, tools breaking ect. and those fcuking media bastards, it took forever to fix there fcukup
so what were your findings Daniel? Just did my headgasket and it's also still overherheating. Just did a slow 40km run at 120km'h wihout the bonnet and when i stopped the temp needle lifted.. 😈 😈 😈

So whats this stuff?
mayonnaise!!!
just... please dont spread it on your bread! it wont taste lekka and it'll probably kill you!!!!
it means your engines oil is mixing with your engines water somewhere. usually the headgasket!
sorry for the bad news on christmas day broo!
ya i always wonderd why you always found water in the oil but not oil in the water. i was hoping it was just something burning of for a while. so i assume this is whats causing the overheating, the oil sticking on all the pipes and blocking flow and radiator stopping the heat transfer
could it not just be oil that went in to the water jackets when transporting the head to the engineers etc. and no burning off? water and oil dont really mix so i would say this coud take some time. the overheating isn't that much and rises slower, its just if you dont move it keeps on climbing. there is no water usage either. i just can't undrstand if oil gets in to the water, the water surely has to go in to the oil. there is no water droplets on the dip stick etc.
yes the fan runs, ive bypaased it so i swich it on all the time and the thermostat is 100% going to take it out for now so i can keep on flushing
You won't find water on your dip stick, best way to find out is to drain the oil, if the oil is greyish then you know.... Then you must find out how its mixing...
If the oil is fine, pour it back in 😉
Also try to flush out your water system, the little oil on the head should not do that, that looks like quite a bit of oil. It can also from oil that got into your water system when you removed the head, very common.
