Utter Frustration

PPhinx06 Dec 2006, 18:35

I said sell the car.

And in my honest opinion you can’t buy one of these cars without having basic mechanical knowledge because the mechanics will make you pay
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m seriously not saying you don’t have any technical knowledge. I’m not looking for Sh#t, But with people like Rezlo, Calibrator ,Dislex ,me and sokar you have the support group and the technical knowledge base to help you, Rezlo can find you almost any part and his damn honest when it comes to what works and what doesn’t.

Look this is my opinion so take it or leave it, but I wouldn’t trust anyone with my car you can ask sokar everything on that car was done by me including re-building the head twice and with every modification I have done I haven’t spent more then R10-000 on everything.

You forgot to mention Vlade. He has skills aswell. 😂 ie. Project D 😈

I'm Trying to learn the skills aswell, as mechs do charge alot.
So far I have fixed a few things my self but nothing too major, still learning.
Its just some things are a little harder to do eg. Engine removal or internal things etc...

But Phinx I do agree with you about the support group 8)

CChemCooladmin06 Dec 2006, 19:06

I like the support group. Some comments: A lhydraulic big lift would be paramount 🙄 and then time. Most of guys like vlade, busy with his own project. Some others too - how to manage time helping the next guy? Just some thoughts 😕

CChemCooladmin06 Dec 2006, 19:10

And space of course and to lift the engine. I beleive some jobs just easier to take engine out and back again. I know one sx owner doing just this. 🙄 🙄

I recently bought a nice engin stand. Next is an engine crane. I make a point to do things myself, and then use the money I saved to buy tools etc. to make the job easier next time.... patience... but I am getting there. My next project, for which I need the engine crane and the heavy duty stand, is to put a Patrol 4.5 straight six into my Safari 4x4. The 2.8 six is not up to turning those big wheels anymore. The challenges will be the fabrication of the new engine mounts, cross-members and the electronics. Luckily I've got the Patrol service manual... and lots of knowlegable friends. 😉

For this project I will take the cab off the chassis.... 😮

Alot of the time its easier than you think to fix things, I always help people out with info, i also have all the FSM's (factory service manuals) listed on my site as well as all the info i can find on these cars, if you have more please email it to me and ill host it.

A good support group is vital to keeping people learning and keeping higher maintanance cars on the road on a budget,

Now here is the tricky thing to explain from my side, yes I do like to help, but i have to ballance how much time i sit and help VS the amount of money it generates. I could sit all day and hold a persons hand threw doing somthing but for me it would = me not putting bread on the table. So as with all things, if I help i expect people to remember the servise I offer when it comes to needing parts and so on and not to just run to the cheapest person in the lot (though I am normaly the cheapest)

There is nothing that irritates me more than when i help a person with tones of techical knowlege, spoon feed them threw many repairs, take loads of phone calls from them then they ask me about one of my instock items at say R1800 then i find them on other forums buying the same thing from a stranger for R1750 and giving me some BS excuse for not buying it from me. this has happend more than a handfull of times with different people.

With R750 000+ in stock which 95% of it revolves around 200sx's I have thought more than once of clearing it out and not doing business anymore but now that i see some of these clubs are serious im hoping that more of you will show some loyalty and help make the 200SX scene in SA alot more vibrant.

So... back to my issue! I'll wait for an expert (Vlade? Freddie? Anyone?) to come look at my car and tell me what to do. On the bright side, my problems are not THAT serious (at least I hope not) - knocking sound from timing cover, and leaking injectors.

Rezlo, I would happily take injectors from you, but I need find the exact match for the injectors I have, 'cos I have non-standard ones and my ECU was re-mapped. I have two options:
1. Find out what size injectors I have, and buy those
2. Buy standard injectors and re-flash the ECU with standard software.
Gonna try for option 1...

I have to say I am disappointed with Maus performance - they give me attitude (for example, I asked if it's possible for someone to come look at my car, and the exact response was "There is no chance that will happen"). No sympathy, nothing. Nevermind that it's their fault. Also, they have this holier-than-thou attitude - if you don't spend as much money as we are telling you to spend, then you are not a worthy customer, and your car is not fixed, and we are not responsible for anything.

I'll try to come around today Toby... Sorry man, work has been keeping me lank busy, people are up in arms because I resigned 😂

TTobyadmin07 Dec 2006, 08:08

Thanks man 🙂 No rush, really - you can come this weekend if it's easier. Hope you got something real nice lined up, now that you've resigned.

DDracomoderator07 Dec 2006, 08:34

He won the lotto 😂 so what you gonna buy us vlade :?:

GGary5707 Dec 2006, 08:37

Short shifters and dump valves all round 😂 .

RRezlo07 Dec 2006, 08:47

Take your injectrs to a refurb center, they should be able to flow test them for you to work out the right size and repair leaking pindle caps and all that.

VVladeadmin07 Dec 2006, 09:02

Hehe if I won 25M in the lotto, I'll have Rezlo build the club new SR20 motors hehe... No moving companies was working for a place called Silica, now moving to Johnnic Communication...

DDanielmoderator10 Dec 2006, 18:02

You better start buying lotto tickets then 🙂
