RB26DETT into S14

How is the car without the ABS?

RRB25SX22 Sept 2008, 12:08

Havnt driven the S14 yet without ABS, But on S13 I didnt feel any differance, ABS only works when you lock the wheels, so might make a differance on a wet road, helping to avoid lockup.

Fitted the propshaft. Cost about R350 to have the bigger yoke fitted and they shortened the shaft by about 20mm.

Had the accelerator cable shortened by 230mm to fit the linkage wich is closer to the firewall than on the SR20.

Build the intercooler pipes yesterday. 76mm stainless pipe. Will polish all the pipes with the engine covers after everything is tested.

RRBSX23 Sept 2008, 15:17

where do you get the time 😮

RRB25SX23 Sept 2008, 16:51

RBSX, I do all the work myself, in our earthmoving machine workshop. Have my own space in the back of the shop. Now with all the rain in CT, I have enough free time.

Anyway, fitted the air filters, 2 x 75mm inlet Simota filters. Made some stainless pipes to place the filters in the left front corner.

All these stainless pipes wil be polished.

RRBSX24 Sept 2008, 13:00

thats exactly how i wanted my engine bay to look like....... 🙁 Twin turbo...yeh ha

RRB25SX14 Oct 2008, 17:19

Got the engine covers back from polishing. A bit more work before we can start the engine. Fitting new cam belt and then the engine management system can be wired up. hope to have it started by end of the month.

That looks so sweet.

OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH,NICE,Cant wait to see the car on the track, hopefully i will will be on the track aswell watching you from behind 😂

RRB25SX15 Oct 2008, 08:49

ljS14, I think your car with the mod. RB25 will be faster and more power than the std RB26. RB26's only make more power once the turbo's are upgraded, so I will follow you down the straight !! 😂 😂

lljS1415 Oct 2008, 09:26

I still have to learn how to drive properly 😂 ,By that time you will have 2x GT 28 on the motor 😉 What are your plans with the turbos? What power does the stock RB26 make?

HHancoB15 Oct 2008, 09:50

Rather do one big turbo in the RB26.

It will most prolly be more reliable. Or if you wanna do twin turbos, do it sequential, thus the small gt28 or t25g boosting a bigger turbo canceling lag. Just a thought! 😉

vveecee15 Oct 2008, 11:10

yaaaaahhh, sequential - cos that'll keep it more simple.

Will see what the condition of the std turbo's is once the engine started. Easiest is to upgrade the std turbo's by replacing the ceramic exhaust wheel with steel and fitting a bigger comp wheel. Then it can handle more boost. Single T66 or GT35R would be the best, but a lot more expensive.

Man you make it all look too simple...

Gonna sell my house and buy a warehouse, with a futon and a fridge, then I can also spend more time on the cars. Not sure what the gf will have to say about that though!! 😮
