FEELER - The ultimate weekend SR swap

RRiekertadmin06 Aug 2008, 20:08

Well the 13B would be awesome. If I had R30k to spend I'd do it... I'm cheap thus going for the straight forward SR swap! 😂 😂

mmario_200sx06 Aug 2008, 20:26

Sokar - Piece of cheap advice. If you know somebody that really knows how to build and tune 13B's then go for it! Its awesome motors and very very reliable if built correctly!

I know a few guys that used them in their stock cars and the hall ass! But its all very well built motors with lots and time and money spend on it! If you get a good price on it all and it works you out cheaper, go for it and all of the best to you!

lol - dont forget to get that piece of fence out of your ass when you finished!!! 😂 😂 😂

Rotary:
1. will smoke
2. use HUGE amounts of oil
3. will consume your months petrol allowance in 1 track day
4. will break
5. you will battle to fix it, those seals are a bitch

Seriously if you put R20k into your SR20 you can get 300kw easy.

jjap spec07 Aug 2008, 08:22

20k for sr is rods, pistons and a turbo... you missing a couple of extra's to make 300kw... if it was so easy, there would be alot more of them running around at those figures... I think i know of about 7 in the country

GGary5707 Aug 2008, 08:25

Yeah you need management, injectors, etc. But the big stuff will set you back R20k. I am antiRotary, so very bias in this topic.

vveecee07 Aug 2008, 10:41

LOL - anti-rotary.

wait until you spend some time with one!

i used to be anti-SR20. until i spent some time with one!!! now i'm anti-ca18!

LOL - this is starting to sound wierd.

GGary5707 Aug 2008, 10:43

I have spent LOTS of time with rotarys, stupid engines.

vveecee07 Aug 2008, 10:58

LOL - ok then.

i guess we agree to disagree then!

rratadmin07 Aug 2008, 11:01

i like rotarys

GGary5707 Aug 2008, 11:05

Yeah ok.

I would love to buy an RX* and put the 4egi motor in there. They such good looking cars but flawed with that engine. I have heard guys say that it uses 1pt of oils per tank, which only gets them 5km/lt 😕 .

PPinkfluffybunnys07 Aug 2008, 11:23

Look I can see where Sokars comming from

"Although the 787 and 787B lacked the single lap pace of World Championship competitors such as Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Porsche, as well Japanese Championship competitors Nissan and Toyota, the Mazdas had reliability which allowed them to contend for their respective championships. The reliability of the cars eventually paid off in 1991 when a 787B driven by Johnny Herbert, Volker Weidler, and Bertrand Gachot to victory in the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans. This remains as of 2008 the only victory by a Japanese marque as well as the only victory by a car not using a reciprocating engine design."

It did when Le mans I dont see nissan or toyota doing that

ddonie0108 Aug 2008, 11:31

Yeah, maybe I should buy my old motor back from you and put it in my Nissan Champ I got now???

vveecee08 Aug 2008, 11:37

dude thats a fantastic idea?

it will be a hectic runner!

ddonie0108 Aug 2008, 12:32

Yeah, but then I need new diff and prop, with that standard 1400 dif?? not having LSD you will rip it apart with that SR?? Any ideas for a diff??

vveecee08 Aug 2008, 12:46

friends of mine built a nice 1400 bakkie with a strong engine in it.

about 230rwkw's.

it ran in the 13's last year with its 13 year old driver!

they installed an alfa diff into the rear, and it came stock with a LSD. held up very well to the power and allowed them to fit better brakes at the rear!

apparently it was a very easy swap!

I have a BMW 325I welded diff that I just need to collect somewhere in Boksburg. You can have it for free if you buy the motor! 😛
