Very nice Alru Looking good ๐
Project KHF (SR)(ex-VG30DETT ,ex-Charl)
Thanks Darryl, still got alot to do as always but its good to see resaults.
Ok so about a little more than a month ago the SR spun a bearing on no. 4 Rod.
Causing all sorts of kak. I have decided to do all the work myself, bar the engineering parts of course.
I got myself some tools, engine crane and engine stand, which surprisingly fit into the new daily

I was a little confused as to why this happened as the engine has been going strong and well maintained.
So I started with the strip and not too far into the strip I turned the engine around on the stand and heard a clunk... very strange indeed. So taking off the Oil pan I found this:

A design flaw apparently as this has happened to others according to some googleing. And Nissan changed this in later SR's, Notice the different mount point for the arm:

Different progressions during the Strip:

There where some not so nice lines down the cylinder as well as some piston skirt damage, I am guessing this is due to a previous overheating incident. So I took the block and crank to the engineers.
We decided it to be better to re sleeve as the block has been drilled before, and they re cut the crank.
I ordered some new goodies which arrived yesterday and will be taking this to them so that they can get the clearances correct.

Genuine Nissan OEM Complete Engine Gasket Kit (Set) S13 SR20DET RWD
Nissan OEM S13 (Blacktop) S14 S15 SR20DE(T) Oil Strainer Pickup Tube
Eagle CRS5365N3D SR20 SR20DET Chromoly Forged Connecting Rods
CP Pistons Nissan SR20DET 86.0mm
ACL Race Main Bearing Set Nissan SR20DE/SR20DET
ACL Race Rod Bearing Set Nissan SR20DE/SR20DET
Crank Thrust Washer Bearings SR20DET
hmmmm goodies ๐ฎ ๐
Always a nice thing, goodies being received, just not the paying for them ๐
More goodies to come at a later stage...
You dont waste time do you??
hehe nope, but still going to be busy for a while.
So last week got everything back from the engineers, seems like they did a good job ๐

Still std bearings?
Nope, 0.25 for Mains and 0.50 for rods
O k.
Very nice! What the engineering cost you?
sent from under the car...

Thanks Riekert!
Well as follows:
Parts:
Sleeves @ R67.20 x 4 = R268.80
Labour:
Resleave @ R382.80 x 4 = R 1531.20
Grind of Cranks Journals R83.36 x 9 = R750.24
Skim Flywheel = R140.00
VAT @ R376.63
Total = R3066.87
So why I like doing things my self, labour is always the expensive bit. In this case I can't
Sorry for the breakdown of the prices, just putting it in so that if somebody wonders what a specific thing costs they will be informed ๐
Ok awesome. Not bad at all. And thanx for the breakdown. Actually helps me as I need to get my crank and fly done ๐

I just checked and unfortunately not, I could take some when I start to resemble but that could be a long while off not sure how soon do you need it.
I do remember tho that the one in the middle pointing up goes to the IACV and there is a return line on that too, the long one on the right going down of the picture goes to the throttle body. Which also has a return. The two bigger ones going round the back are for the heater, but there is a little one splitting off that goes to the turbo cooling line.
This is a good thread with lots of pictures, read to the bottom as he made a mistake first time, I am sure this will help you out.

thanks.
Will probably have to take out the intake to get to most of those hoses.

Yes on the S13 SR you will have to, believe me I tried fixing a leaking water hose with the manifold on, many many hours and lots of swearing, I eventually got a clamp in to hold it.
So I received some more goodies, I now have everything to complete the bottom end:
In the white box is a full timing chain kit.
