those wheels suit the car perfect, nice job. Rota ftw

btw is there any advantage/disadvantage for going stretched with tyres??

ddjtreble17 Feb 2011, 23:26

Thanks bud,

No there is no particular advantage or disadvantage with a stretched tyre, If you over stretch the beading can come off under heavy load which is crap but if you are reasonable with the stretch then you can have a more agressive stance with wider lower offset wheels.

Besides looking cool, and making wide rims fit under tight arches... = hella. Streched tyres give less sidewall flex, there traction loss point is sharper when under sideways load. = hence drifters love to stretch em ๐Ÿ™‚

Generally you'll find okes stretch the rears more than the fronts.. as you generally need more grip upfront when drifting ๐Ÿ™‚

but you may have problems trying to ask your tyre dealer to stretch tyres onto wider rims.. they dont like doing it for safety reasons. Bring on the can of EGO and a lighter trick.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Quoted for the truth ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

nnirvash18 Feb 2011, 11:25

is that how you drifters do it, EGO and lighters ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜‚
do it yourself tyre mounting machine

ddjtreble18 Feb 2011, 11:26

hey, it works and not many tyre places are willing to do it ๐Ÿ˜›

So the decat, downpipe, elbow, manifold, braided lines, new guages, sandwich plate, etc are now fitted.
Car is boosting at 10.5PSI. Will need to get a boost controller so that I can up it to 14PSI until I start mapping, FMIC, Injectors, Larger turbo, etc

that look so not good!!!

ddjtreble01 Mar 2011, 18:27

Yeah, thank goodness I'm getting a matching set for drifting so I will use the damaged one for drifting. Plus I will get touch up paint so that I can make it less noticeable

aaep88601 Mar 2011, 22:34

that what happen when you're under tyre >< ... some of the tyre actaully got a rim protector... ^^ it good when you have a matching pair... coz i see so many guys with unmatched wheels at the drift all the time....

ddjtreble01 Mar 2011, 23:41

Yes but normal size tyres are boring and give less of an aggresive stance.
We all have to roll with unmatched wheels when we start out, it's cheaper

Saturday I decided to fit new EBC rear pads to sort out my lack of rear braking power on the handbrake and sort out the oil leak from the sandwich plate.

Then I packed the car up and woke up at 5AM on Sunday to make the 3 hour trip to Pembrey, South Wales for a day of drifting.

The car performed faultlessly and it handles just the way I want it to! Now to get some more seat time so that I can push the boundries on speed and angel!

My S14 is so reliable, it drove 3 hours to the event, sat on the limiter for much of the time on the track, and then made the 3 hour trip back home...and it still being used daily during the week.
Makes me realise BMW's aren't the only reliable skid cars out there.

Here is my first attempt at onboard video and editing with a ยฃ12 ebay spy camera:

Unfortunately I only came 17th in the qualifying for the UK-ODC because I straightened out when attacking the first corner, I nailed the rest of it though ๐Ÿ˜€

Ah well, next time I'll do a safe run first and then push myself for the second.

rratadmin16 Mar 2011, 08:26

haha sheep

wish we had something like that to drift on (not the sheep)

ddjtreble28 Mar 2011, 14:28

So not much work done, just more drifting at my last UK drift event

My failed attempt at backwards entry

And my failure at keeping my bumper on for once

To do list looks like this now:
- Fix hole in exhaust where mount has ripped off
- Replace fuel filler pipe
- Replace clutch and release bearing with new ACT units (ordered)
- Find a replacement bumper
- Repair rest of kit
- Paint kit
- Fit new decal design

Then drift in SA when it arrives mid May, leaves UK port 27th April ๐Ÿ˜€

You/your car is in the beginning of this vid. There may be more but I got bored of watching half way through.

LOL, yeah I know...I was pissed off because my car is in there like 4 times in the beginning but there isn't 1 bit of me actually drifting! ๐Ÿ˜•
