CCaptian15 Jul 2011, 09:15

Bit of a late response there SilviaS13 😉
So where can I find a Drifter for 20K and how much would I look on spending on it.
Want to go talk to the bank so need a roufg figure of how much I need on the loan
Thanks

I just bought a e30 325 with new suspension, engine rebuild and locked diff for that much, ready to start drifting right away. Just look around and be patient

CCaptian15 Jul 2011, 11:01

Thanks man
So R20K for the ride and another say R20K for extras like tyres and fixing...?

SSilviaS1316 Jul 2011, 09:44

C...it all depends on how serious you want to be. Just to play around or to compete against the big guys.
I would suggest to get an SX. Skyline(r32 and up).
There are bargains out there you just have to wait..
Start off with the stock car, and start buying the suspension first. Then tackle the motor...

CCaptian17 Jul 2011, 17:06

Looking into real serious E.
Just 16% is a lot of intrest

SSilviaS1317 Jul 2011, 17:11

16% is a bit rough... Must be your first time loan. I am paying 4.5% on most of my cars..
Just save, it's the best way. Cash is king!

SSilviaS1317 Jul 2011, 17:13

And remember, you need a sponsor, cause if you are going into drifting full force and take part in all the events you will need an average of R20k a month...
Think of that

CCaptian17 Jul 2011, 17:20

I wont go into drifting full force this year.
I cant really save, will take me 30 months to have enough just to get the car.
Would like to pick up that bargain in PTA and maybe the half cut, see now it comes with engine.
So all I need extra is suspention.
Will 1st learn how to drift and when I good enough I will go big.
Sad story of my life...*sigh*

ddjtreble17 Jul 2011, 20:19

Your best bet bud is to buy something cheap, learn to drift and have fun. Then develop your car to your driving style.

20k on a cheapy and some extra, say 5k, for fixing and some wheels and you can start right away. Have fun, learn and develop. Drifting is a lifestyle...have fun and develop yourself and your car.

Notice how many times I said have fun...

WWhite Fang17 Jul 2011, 22:02

Captain !

Why don't you by a ex drift car ?
Then every thing is done al readdy !

SSilviaS1317 Jul 2011, 22:26

C: Ok, sounds fair, maybe try and get a small sponsor first?
As dj said, fun is important. I still only do it for fun, when you get to serious the fun goes out the window, and that's no fun. Also used fun alot 🙂
If you dont do well and you had fun it does not matter how far you go.
Tyres are the biggest issue when you get good. In the beginning it's a set per oracular. But later a set every 10 minutes... Sucks!!!
Maybe get an e30 biz shape to start...

CCaptian18 Jul 2011, 10:21

So you guys are saying I sould not get the SX for Sale for R30K on here?
I will always do it for Fun as Fnu is the best way to enjoy life.

SSilviaS1318 Jul 2011, 21:40

Get the SX, it is better in the long run...

CCaptian19 Jul 2011, 09:01

Thanks
Just need to sort out with the banks

SSilviaS1319 Jul 2011, 09:52

16% sucks, but not having a SX sucks more

CCaptian19 Jul 2011, 09:59

The prime at the mo is 9% So I dont know where this guy gets 16%
He he thinks he gonna play he can suck it

SSilviaS1319 Jul 2011, 18:18
