My SX

Hi Guys,

New member here. Just thought I'd upload some pics of my SX.

I got her like this about 2 years ago, IMAG0491.jpg IMAG0493.jpg The body is really nice and the interior even better, but the motor never made me feel confident.

I fitted a custom 76mm exhaust, made by a friend of mine. It's a full 76mm system apart from the
down pipe, as I'm still running the stock turbo. IMG-20130219-00329.jpg IMAG0528-1.jpg I daily drove it for about 8 months and had a weird fueling issue that took me about 4 months to sort out.
I finally figured it our and fixed it, then this happened, IMAG0451.jpg

That caused this to happen, IMAG0718.jpg I was ticked off, but I was planning on rebuilding the motor some time anyway, so I took it as a sign.
A complete rebuild followed, with a few added improvements. This is a 80% done pic , IMAG0466.jpg I also added some gauges (not pictured is my AEM wideband on the A-pillar) IMAG0481.jpg Here's a competed engine bay pic as she stands now. I stared her last week and drove her in nice
and hard. Everything looks and feels great! IMAG0498.jpg Also fitted my new wheels that I've been keeping in my spare room ๐Ÿ˜€
This is as she stands now, IMAG0513.jpg

NICE!
Now a touch more Low / Camber

NNissan_Fanatic08 Apr 2014, 08:08

Thanks for all the kind words, appreciate it.

@PAKIMONSTER: Ek sal n draai kom maak later die week of vroeg volgende week...dalk kry dit jou motivated om jou SX te resurrect ๐Ÿ˜€

@troopiec: The wheels are 17x9 ET30. I'm running a 5mm spacer in front cause the rim to strut clearance was only like 3mm, so now
its about 8mm. I wasn't comfortable with only 3mm clearance. I'm also running 225/45 tires, so there's a little stretch.

@DriftZ: I'm gonna go a little lower in front, but only 10mm or so. I would love to go more and add some camber, but this is going to
be my daily driver again, so don't want to go crazy. I've got Koni adjustable shocks, but still stock type springs, so I'm planning on converting
the struts to be adjustable with coilover springs, then I can go up and down as I please...just need to have these shocks serviced...

I have a few small things left to do, then she'll be done for now. I'll drive her like that for a few weeks just to make sure everything is settled
and reliable...then it'll fit my 440cc injectors and RB25 MAF. After I've tuned that and all seems good, I'll fit my bigger turbo

Looking forward to all the mods planned, but most of all...after spending 7 months working on it...I just want to drive her! ๐Ÿ˜€

As I have said before, the coastal towns have some of the neatest SX's around. Your one looks really good.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks bud, no, I bought them from a guy here in PE that imports them...if I'm not mistaken he also wholesales to other shops,
so the set you saw might have been supplied my him.

I saw your new wheels on your thread, they look good! What are the specs on your set?

SSkippy08 Apr 2014, 16:30

Thanks man, he could be supplying to Cape Town as well.

The specs
17" 4x114pcd
38mm offset
7.5j

NNissan_Fanatic09 Apr 2014, 10:21

Hey Guys,

Update time ๐Ÿ˜€

I've fitted my 440cc injectors and RB25 AFM. I wanted to keep a stock like look, so I modded my stock air box to take the bigger MAF.
I also wired in my SMT8L and tuned it myself. Car runs great and feels stronger in the mid range. I'm still conservative with the timing, but
will sort that out as soon as I slap together some det cans.

This is what it looks like now: IMAG0620_BURST002.jpg A friend of mine is turbo charging his Corsa bakkie and needed a turbo (after the one he was going to use failed on the dyno), so I told
him he can have mine. This started my big turbo swop...a little earlier than planned, but I wanted to get it done anyway.

Here's a comparison between the stock T25 and what's going on: IMAG0663.jpg IMAG0666.jpg The big turbo is a sleeve bearing version of a GT2871r with a genuine Garrett GT2876r 0.70AR compressor housing. The exhaust side is 0.64AR.

This is a pic of the mock up I did to determine what size spacer to run between the exhaust manifold and turbo. I have to do this as the big
comp housing fouls on the manifold. IMG-20140614-WA0004.jpg The spacer should be done by the weekend and then i can fit it again to measure up what else will be needed. I'm expecting some lag with this
turbo, but hoping for not too much...guess I'll have to wait and see.

I'll update as soon as there's something to update about.

Cheers,

SSonOfAnarchy ZAadmin19 Jun 2014, 09:25

nice dude how much was that turbo? why not go top mount? cant hide a pretty turbo like that

NNissan_Fanatic19 Jun 2014, 13:44

Thanks man,

I picked the turbo up 2nd hand for cheap, but it needed some work, so it worked out to about R2800 or so.

I would love to go top mount and might still one day, but for now I still have quite a few other things that I want to
do on her and the extra money for a top mount manifold can't be justified right now. I also dont want to remove the
ABS just yet, I know its not a good system, but I dont want to hack the car to pieces...it's a very clean example and
want to keep it that way. Like the VAG guys do OEM+, this is my version of JDM+ ๐Ÿ˜
