Help!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys i need help i recently rebuilt my .ca18det however she's running bearing within 2days of build the

And now and again the oil light is coming on

Could this be low oil pressure that's why she's running bearings like this

Blocked oil filter? Or a blockage on the block its self

DDracomoderator01 Oct 2014, 13:40

It could be a few things, bad oil pump(did you replace it), blockage in block(did you clean all the oil paths with petrol and air), blockage in oil squirters, maybe even the head gasket turned around so it blocks the flow of oil, blockages in head, wrong bearing sizes, blocked oil pickup, wrong torque on bearing caps...

How much oil did you fill?

SSonOfAnarchy ZAadmin01 Oct 2014, 14:10

if u rebuild a ca18 you always replace the oil pump! its a unwritten law.

jjoey.lazarus0101 Oct 2014, 16:09

It has a new oil pump in and cosmetic gasket

jjoey.lazarus0101 Oct 2014, 16:11

If I'm not mistaken torque spec on the caps is 40 to 44Nm oil squirters are clean

Filled 4.5l i know it's alot but rather have extra

oil return not blocked?

id suggest getting a oil pressure gauge and seeing what the oil pressure is on. have you run bearings again?

Lil be getting a oil pressure gauge soon and i checked the return pipe it's clean

What clearances was it machined to?

DDracomoderator02 Oct 2014, 06:49

The crank might be standard but the block has 3 codes of what standard is, if for instance you used a crank from another block the clearances may differ, not hugely but none the less, if your crank and block are not the same originally, I'd suggest take it to a reputable engineer with the new set of bearings so they can measure everything.

The other thing to look at if everything else looks right is the balancing of your crank, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, it may be that the balance is off and it might "ride" the specific bearing. Are you sure your crank is straight?

Will do that thanks a other thing with the diff between a other4port head and a 8port head

jjoey.lazarus0102 Oct 2014, 10:17

Draco don't you think it be better if i take the block and crank and have them check the size and clearance

that should have been done with the first rebuild as well as balancing. every clearance should have been checked then the bearings matched accordingly

the whole head design is different on intake side, has a different fuel rail intake runners there quiet a few diffrences 8 port sucks 4 port ftw 😁

DDracomoderator02 Oct 2014, 10:29

Yes, that would be better, with bearing caps and all.

I do not understand your question about the difference between the 8 and 4 port head?

There are plenty differences to the two heads, the exhaust side of the head is the same, the intake is different, on the 8 port(jap import) it is as Sonofaberrie said, there are also secondary butterflies that needs to be attended to, which the 4 port does not have.

No of fence but why not take the whole engine to a reputable engine builder and let them sort it out for you? Whom ever built this and it lasted 2 days doesn't know what they doing...
