Cam belt question

wwidowmaker11 Oct 2007, 12:21

does anybody have an idea of how many teeth (on the belt, not on draco) you can be out before you start causing damage? that is my number one suspect for my tractor engine. i think i have slipped a tooth or two that is why my engine gallops i think.

ideas please, before i start taking apart again

Does anyone know the part number for the cam belt I will be changing mine this weekend. Does it matter on the make when the motor is making lots of power??

PS: sorry the hijack.

😂 funny....shitmaker....my teeth is fine 😉

Don't be such a useless plick....open the cover and see....1 tooth is enough to make it run like your granny.

wwidowmaker11 Oct 2007, 12:54

have you seen my granny run? its a compliment!

DDoctor G11 Oct 2007, 14:01

bwhahahahahha, that is so true

wwidowmaker11 Oct 2007, 14:54

is your car smoking? using oil?
probably worn piston rings letting oil through. DONT PANIC!
the easiest way to fill the gap between rings and sleeve is to pour two cups of sugar into your petrol tank. the burning of the sugar makes a thick caramel that plugs that gap up one time like magic.

the coolest thing about this tip is that when driving really fast people behind you will be spun closed with candyfloss!

but noooo, all the idiots go for Prolong

wwidowmaker11 Oct 2007, 14:54

oh and just because i'm joking i would still like an answer

DDoctor G11 Oct 2007, 15:07

Well the simple answer is that any amount of teeth out on the cambelt is going to cause your car to run crap.

Take the cover off and check the timing. Both answers were already given in the thread.

However, if the car is jumping teeth then maybe it's time for a new tensioner pulley.

No idea on the part number, but I think you should get it from Nissan. It's only like R230.00

another quote of the century... mowahahahahah!!!

between yourself today G and Daniel yesterday i've nearly wet myself twice laughing!!!

hehehehe - chrome mags suck balls... indeed!!!! (draco's gonna be so pissed!!!! hehehehe)

and widowmaker - having teeth out is not funny business... its a serious affair. and medical aids like discovery dont pay because they think that removing 5 front teeth is cosmetic. they must have lots of capetonians as customers!!!!

it will also make your engine run crappy. kinda like babies when they're teething - they run crappy too. but i once was out a tooth on the exhaust side and nothing broke!!!

so dont stress too much - just stop being lazy and go check!!!

wwidowmaker12 Oct 2007, 06:29

laziness is all i have left

Like they sai timing is very important one tooth out and u wont get vokol out of the car for the amount of teeth im not shure but the best way to check is to turn the timing belt inside out hold the two together (new and old one ) mark them both at the same place and rotate them at the same time with the teeth meshing into each other 😛 😛

Lets try this again and slowly this time u take the 2 timing belts right turn them inside out with the teeth on the out side right but them against each other like 2 gears right mark both at the same place right then like 2 gears rotate them with the teeth mashing into each other if the marks correspond the 2 belts are the same size HAVE U GOT IT NOW en jy het all my inerlike simpati met widdowraper
