Fueling i think

howdy dudes long time no see my car at +- 4500 revs when the turbo starts to work the car coes ppppprrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtttttttttttttttttttttttttt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 😢 any sugestions PLEASE 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

TTobyadmin24 Nov 2007, 11:00

You gunned it, you broke it, now mod it 😂 😂
(Read that in Shift S13's sig 😂 )

SShift S1324 Nov 2007, 18:30

Hehe, glad I could be of assistance 😂

SShift S1324 Nov 2007, 18:35

The sound you describe sounds like a blowing manifold to turbo gasket..like blowing on a piece of folded paper? Does the pitch of the sound increase with boost?

TTrance10124 Nov 2007, 19:11

Could it not be a simple boost leak? Maybe check your piping. Does it sound like air escaping?

vveecee24 Nov 2007, 19:12

sounds more like the turbo blades touching the turbo housings???

a rebuild could be in order!

same thing happened to mine.

2200SX MP25 Nov 2007, 09:28

no its miss fireing

vveecee26 Nov 2007, 07:54

aah - ok!

the ppprrrrrttttt description didn't translate properly in my stoopid head!!!

LOL - misfiring could be hundreds of things!

do the basics first - give it a service!

if it still misfires then start searching for strange things. check the codes on the ECU. check the power transistor, coils, CAS, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, the injectors, the injector resistor pack, the AFM, the water temp sender unit, the wiring to all of those good things...

also check that everything is grounded properly.

and GOOD LUCK, may the force be with you, god speed, and all that!!! 😂 😂 😂

Check obvious first:
- spark plug leads, spark plugs
- Timing (lumpy idle or not)
- fuel pressure - replace fuel filter in process
- turn down boost and then check frrrprprrrr - sound gone?

It's not cool if your car sounds like your rice crispies cereal...

I must admit it sound like a fueling issue...

Be mindfull of surge/detonation...

Will do so thanks dudes 😉

Maybe he means make sure that spring at the end of the coil is making good contact with the spark plug? 🙂 Altho I guess those leads to the coil packs could be checked, hey veecee??

vveecee27 Nov 2007, 06:19

i guess...

but i immediately associate the word "leads" with the less abreviated version "HT leads".

and if he was using them, then i also would want to find out why and how, because i really dont like having my coil packs on top of my plugs, and i would love to move them, but it would look really frakkas!!! 😉

SSpeed breeder27 Nov 2007, 08:06

oh yeah, i forgot the rest of you guys running individual coil packs on top of the plugs. I have one coil pack outside the cover with spark plug leads running to the plugs. I will post a pic... Not very cool of me...

Then replace "Check spark plug leads" with have a drink first...

SSpeed breeder27 Nov 2007, 08:20

I am just used to troubleshooting in my own engine bay... 🙂

GGary5727 Nov 2007, 08:27

I see you moved the ABS, wow that is quite something I must say. What power is the car making with that size turbo??

SSpeed breeder27 Nov 2007, 08:47

Glad you like...
Haven't boosted too hard on a dyno yet...

I remember when they set it up a year ago it was 167 rwkw or something @ 1 bar but rev limiter set at 6000rpm.

I managed a 132rwkw at a dyno day in May with 430nm. It's kind of difficult to say, as I also run the car over rich and always set the limiter at 6000rpm

I must admit that a Golf V GTi was only making 117kw on that same dyno, same day

I think its easy to achieve 155-170kw if fueling is perfect, and the rpm limited is increased. (The turbo lag is a huge drag though)
