Dump valve fitment

DDriftmeister29 Apr 2008, 09:41

hi guys

where(in Cape Town) can go i to fit a dump valve

mmario_200sx29 Apr 2008, 09:43

Just do it yourself, easy enough. Or give me a call and I can help you one night.

What type of dump valve is it?

Do you need to get a flange made?

DDriftmeister29 Apr 2008, 09:46

just a normal one nothing fancy

id like to fit it to as close to the intake as possible

i think im gonna need a flange

mmario_200sx29 Apr 2008, 09:50

best place to mount it is before the intercooler. Where do you live?

Can you take a pic of the BOV so we can see if you need a flange? do you still run the stock intercooler?

HHancoB29 Apr 2008, 09:51

Hey buddy,

You can let me and Mario help you we have had the experience in that! He He of wat se jy Mario?

Not close to the TB...then you are just gonna dump all the cold air that has been cooled through the intercooler. Put it infront of the cooler dumping all the hot air!

mmario_200sx29 Apr 2008, 09:55

I will PM you, we can talk there.

DDriftmeister29 Apr 2008, 09:55

everything stock let me find a pic

SSokar29 Apr 2008, 09:57

*sigh* Fitting a Dump valve to a stock car... I give up.....

SSokar29 Apr 2008, 09:59

Lemme pose a question, why are you / have you fitted one?

mmario_200sx29 Apr 2008, 10:00

For better spool up from the turbo...

mmario_200sx29 Apr 2008, 10:01

reduce compression surge..

EEro_sennin29 Apr 2008, 10:03

and to also helps to increase the fuel consumption on a stock car :200sx_punk:

DDriftmeister29 Apr 2008, 10:05

Eish

why will it increase fuel consumption

SSokar29 Apr 2008, 10:06

OK, it does kinda help with that... but it also adds some negatives.

If mr Driftmeister hasnt bought the valve yet, why not look at fitting a diverter valve? Basically the same as a dump valve, but it will push the air from after the IC back into the pipe after the MAF, before the turbo...?

This will keep the engine management very happy. However there will be no dump sound at all, but if thats the reason you're fitting it, its the wrong reason!

HHancoB29 Apr 2008, 10:13

Now whats the fun in that????? Thats y the man wants a BOV! To go tsssshhhh next a hot babe in her golf or something!! 😂 😂 😂

Ja Sokar is right! You tend to run rich when fitting a lucky packet BOV! That can be sorted tho!!!

rratadmin29 Apr 2008, 10:15

Is there any difference before after the IC?

Why is it not a good idea on a stock setup and what about a modded setup?

mmario_200sx29 Apr 2008, 10:17

Sokar is correct,

There are some negatives involved with using a dump valve or BOV.

Like ero said, fuel consumption, because your car runs richer on the time you change gears. Your airflow sensor is fooled so it runs richer. Wiki BOV and it gives a good explination.

If you use a recurculating BOV that would not be a problem. But you will not have that sound. As Sokar said, if you are doing it for the sound, it the wrong reason.

Im boosting just ova 1bar, and it is far too high, and I run a hybrid turbo, so I put on a BOV (Hanco's one for now, till my new one is fitted).

You can feel the difference between shifts, doesnt make your car make more power, but makes you utelise(spelling???) your power better.

What type of cons are you also reffering to Sokar?

HHancoB29 Apr 2008, 10:17

Only that you are gonna dump hot air before the IC or cold air after the IC!
