Intercooler radiator combi

I see no point in it. You try keep your intercooler as cold as possible so putting it next to a hot radiator is just silly.

SSokar02 Jun 2008, 11:30

Hmmmm, looks good in theory, wonder how it works in application?

mmario_200sx02 Jun 2008, 11:34

I understand Gary's point of view, and then I also look at the amount of less pipping your using and space!

So whos gonna try it and see what the difference is? 😉

YAY that BM is gone from Sokars sig.

YAY!!!

anyway, you can always just fill your intercooler with water 😉

vveecee02 Jun 2008, 17:56

this is what i'm doing.

it keeps the pipes very short.

it also keeps the intercooler away from the radiator.

it also ensures that both get good airflow.

and it makes your bonnet look hawt, and be functional at the same time.

Ja the v-mount layout is still the best, has been used by Japanese touring car series and D1 since the start.

I am opting to go that route to!

nice.

when you planning this mod???

HHancoB02 Jun 2008, 18:15

When the price of petrol goes down so a student can live a happy life! he he

I was thinking of doing it since the s13's nose is very pointy and not a lot of space for a big cooler or atleast if you do a big cooler half of the cooler sits behind the bumper getting no air.

@VC...Are you going to it with the sr20det??

vveecee02 Jun 2008, 18:33

yup!

vveecee02 Jun 2008, 18:46

sorry for the hijack mario.

go see my articles page for a small update!

mmario_200sx02 Jun 2008, 18:55

No proble VC, I like your setup more. But I would like some tech info on the other setup. very plain and simple....

EEro_sennin02 Jun 2008, 19:35

I would think the rad's heat would have a negative effect.
Good Idea but I don't know if its practical

3300sx03 Jun 2008, 09:20

IMHO, since most frontmount ic's end up in front of the rad anyway, this is a workable setup.

obviously you are going to pick up radiated heat from the rad, but when moving , airflow goes through the ic first, then the rad, so this setup works fine..
big plus : "drops straight in without any modifications at all!! "

btw , this setup works for me... 😉

GGary5703 Jun 2008, 09:25

I would like to compare IAT between this setup and a normal FMIC.

mmario_200sx03 Jun 2008, 09:34

300sx - Do you have this setup on your car?

3300sx03 Jun 2008, 09:42

very similar.. i have a massive ic right in front of my radiator..
i mean, where else could you put a ic that big anyway?
will post a pic..

mmario_200sx03 Jun 2008, 09:46

that would be great thanks.... 😉
