Time for a rebuild

DDoctor G04 Jun 2008, 06:40

So my ca has just gone over 300k kms (original motor) and although she still eats G5's for breakfast I think a rebuild is in order.

Don't wanna upgrade anything like rods, pistons or anything, just want to refresh the old girl.

How much will a std rebuild cost me parts & engineering wise?

nissan full rebuild gasket kit is now over 2500-00.

then you need bearings, and rings too at the very least. also fairly expensive for genuine nissan parts...

hang on. that new dude from cape town, who works for nissan, posted parts prices around here somewhere a while back.

Doc I did 2 rebuilds about a month ago and they came in at about R10k.

Thats insane! What is th world coming to!

Genuine parts are expensive!!!

mmario_200sx04 Jun 2008, 09:15

True, I know that it expensive but that daylight robbery!

EEightySix04 Jun 2008, 09:50

Engine Overhaul Gasket Set - R 1997-66
Set of Rings - R 857-35
Main Bearing Set - R 575-30
Big End Bearing Set - R 391-11
Pistons - R 609-39
Valves Intake - R 1665-40
Valves Exhaust - R 2713-25
Valve Springs - R 1643-25
Valve Guides Exhaust - R 2303-15
Valve Guides Intake - R 2186.60
Oil Pump - R 1963-45
Water Pump - R 2683-81

This is already expensive but if you wanna do a proper job you're probably gonna have to do Cambelt and Sprockets etc.

This is just to give you a background so you know you don't have to pay more than this for your parts šŸ˜›

Lemme know if you need anything else

GGary5704 Jun 2008, 09:55

True, I know that it expensive but that daylight robbery!

Please do explain.

mmario_200sx04 Jun 2008, 10:07

Look, al I'm saying is that these parts are so overpriced! For ten grand I can go and buy myself a set of Carillo Rods and Wiseco pistons!

EEightySix04 Jun 2008, 10:20

Yeah it is very expensive and that's with a 10 % discount.

I would'nt even do it myself, even if I got it for cost šŸ™

GGary5704 Jun 2008, 11:13

yes you could Mario but there is ALOT more that goes into a rebuild that just rods and pistons, that makes up the 10grand.

mmario_200sx04 Jun 2008, 11:15

I know that..... šŸ™„

Just sayin its allot of money to recon a motor for stock boost...

rratadmin04 Jun 2008, 11:17

but it will last another 300000kms

mmario_200sx04 Jun 2008, 11:20

For ten grad I fu*kin hope so! šŸ˜‚

EEightySix04 Jun 2008, 11:45

The other thing is that you can buy a RB25 motoer for the same price.
šŸ˜€šŸ˜€

GGary5704 Jun 2008, 12:38

But then you are back to another 2nd hand motor, with problems. If I bought any import motor for myself I would overhaul it no matter what.

mmario_200sx04 Jun 2008, 13:04

I can buy a VQ45 thats in sound condition, dont need to recon for R8500-00.

Sorry we are why of topic here, my bad...
