RRiekertadmin15 Jul 2008, 16:51

How does this sound?

"SR20DET/CA18DET upgrade, street application. A/R 0.49
This turbo is designed for 1.6–2.0L engines and features a T25-size exhaust flange. This makes it ideal as an upgrade turbo for CA18-DET or SR20DET engines*. Rated at 280hp,A/C is 0.49. it is suitable for street performance applications. It features water cooling and a removable three-bolt exhaust flange.
Tested on a CA18 at *** Dyno, it produced 206kW at the wheels with 16psi of boost. The standard internal wastegate is designed to hold 11–12psi."

Its a GT28RS Ball Bearing turbo...

Awesome turbo, I probably say that cause I have one 😀
spools very very early and makes good boost 😀

yeah Its a knockoff BUT its a shit load cheaper that the original! 😈 😈

RRiekertadmin15 Jul 2008, 18:23

but what you guys think otherwise?

jjon15 Jul 2008, 21:16

Where's the compressor map?

HHancoB15 Jul 2008, 21:33

jirre pink fluff is like those pains when you wanna take a really nice k@k. Always pops up when you least want it!

The man is down in the dumps man!

cut him some slack, that turbo will do for what he is going for, he doesn't need some super maguber of a fat turbo!

Riekert that will do fine for you!

vveecee15 Jul 2008, 21:41

hey riekert

what about that T28 route yo?

go see mario's articles page for specs - its a decent upgrade, and you wont wait for boost! 😉

mmario_200sx15 Jul 2008, 21:43

I agreed with Spanco there! Riekert its a good turbo for the CA18DET motor! Perfect application for good reliable power!

HHancoB15 Jul 2008, 21:44

Grrrr

Well its basically a T28 plus its brand new. I can get a reconed T28 from a NZ s14... but how long will that last me? And I don't think the power will be that different...

HHancoB15 Jul 2008, 21:55

yeah TMI is not a good thing! Experience is what counts...

Thus ask the people who have been through it all!

true true! thus Asking all the guys who run UPRATED turbo's or the guys who know's alot of stuffffsss.... WILL THIS WORK FOR MY CAR???

😉 😉

vveecee15 Jul 2008, 22:01

i've seen guys running t3/t4's on ca18's and it works for them.

and i've driven my ca18det without a turbo (it was installed but couldnt spin) so basically it was without a turbo at all!!!

they both worked. so what are your goals for the turbo? what do you expect to gain/lose from installing it?

HHancoB15 Jul 2008, 22:02

wel there is one on my CA18DET and it works fine!

The rest of the guys with GT28RS turbos will most prolly confirm this!

Ok very true VC, I also drove a CA18DE(busted)T and it wasn't fun! 😈

but my Imidiate goal is just to get the car on the road again. And I want to make a healthy 160rwkw...

HHancoB15 Jul 2008, 22:08

Then try it and let us all know!

RRiekertadmin15 Jul 2008, 22:13

Will do!

I think the only thing that actually bothers me is this... "A/R 0.49 "

TTrance10115 Jul 2008, 22:13

I'd say stay away from those knock off GT28RS's that can be found on places like ebay. I've looked at the specs compared to the real GT28RS before and it just doesn't compare. If you have the cash the GT28RS is the way to go IMO but, if you can't justify spending that money on a turbo, I'd say go for the tried and tested S14 T28 or similar.

HHancoB15 Jul 2008, 22:14

Well one thing you know is that you wont wait for it to boost...he he
