DDracomoderator13 Oct 2008, 13:05

I have R25 000 for an sx....but can't find one I want.....mostly because I want a good one that you can't get for the price.

I can get a porche 928 V8 for R22 000 but do I really want it..?

I can get a honda(that does not look to hot) with a 16i v-tec turbo engine for R30 000 ( drove in it....was naar when I climed out....it's noggal fast) maybe it was just because I was impressed by a honda....

Can get a Ford Capri V6 twin webber but still can't bite...

So....any suggestions?

SSokar13 Oct 2008, 13:34

buy a Datsun GX and put a V8 in that 😛

As we discussed over the weekend, check the E30 club forums: www.e30clubsa.co.za and have a look for a 325i.

nice!!

DDracomoderator13 Oct 2008, 13:44

So what does a 3.7 stroker convertion mean?

CCharlvdw13 Oct 2008, 13:52

If you ever get what you had it would be a maricle(sory het nie spel op skool gehad nie.)

RRiekertadmin13 Oct 2008, 13:54

well you can bore your car to a bigger CC... which means you need bigger pistons...

a stroker kit makes the block longer and not wider... so you'll have longer pistons... if thats sounds right...??

XXavier13 Oct 2008, 13:57

RIEKERT U MEAN LONGER STROKE

DDracomoderator13 Oct 2008, 14:00

So the E30 bmw was bored bigger with a longer stroke.....how much power could that mean?

CCharlvdw13 Oct 2008, 14:11

See this is what i dont get about a "stroker kit" you cant change the stroke of an enjin with out changing the crank and once that is done do you attach another bit of sleeve between the head and blog for your longer stroke to travel in?

power not sure... but the torque should be massive.

SSokar13 Oct 2008, 15:01

Like I said in my PM, 2.7 or 3.7?

2.7 is common, the 325is were 2.7's so a crank and set of conrods from a 325i will give a 2.7

3.7, thats a little strange, that sounds like the 3.5 straight 6 out of the older shape 735i or 535i with bigger pistons to increase bore? Might be a hack job, also you dont want the old 3.5 motor, they are quite lazy and heavy, the also dont like to rev over 6000rpm because of the rotating weight.

The smaller 6's 323, 325 and 325is are the nice rev happy motors.

For the love of god, dont get a 320i, its a waste of time, 6cyl sound and fuel consumption, with 4 cyl power and a heavy nose.

no - thats not right.

stroker kits do change the stroke of the engine. you either need revised pistons, or crank, and sometimes rods, to make sure that the pistons reach the top of their travel at the same place they did before!

another bit of sleeve between the head and blog is not going to work.
