Hi guys have we decided what day and what time yet?I vote for sat. What do you think? Also toby i think we should try and get a sponcer for a gazibo and a nice 200sx club poster in vinal so the rain wont bugger us around, maybe some caps and pens to hand out to people?let me know what you think.Ill see what i can organise from my side, also who is all showing their cars?

TTobyadmin19 Feb 2009, 22:04

smoothedgp - thanks, that would help a lot. I think we have to display on all 3 days, not just one day. It looks like we'll have 2, maybe 3 cars on display at a push (much like last year). So I'll go with that. Mike's car drew a lot of attention and won some awards, so it would be good to have that on display again. 300sx, your car would also be awesome to display, thanks for offering. I'll have to get back to them soon (I hope it's not too late already).

o.k lets put up a post for a gazibo etc...my car will be ready with new interior,18's and drop syspension.

TTobyadmin24 Feb 2009, 07:54

I've spoken to the organisers and we're on for the show. I've told them that there will be 3 cars on display. So far I have 300sx's car and Smoothedgp's car. Can we please have an S14? Capetown drifter maybe? If anyone else wants to volunteer, please do so (don't wait for nominations). Maybe even one of the Rock's drifters? Charl?

We will need a Gazebo for our stand. Does anyone have a nice gazebo that they are willing to sponsor for the event? We will have to leave it there for the 3 days (we will cable-tie it securely if we can). If someone could sponsor this, it would be a big help!

Smoothedgp - please let me know if can help with the vinyl poster. Caps will be too expensive πŸ™ Pens are naf. I would like glossy brochure-style pamphlets too if we can organise. Hotstuff has all the graphics and design.

I'm meeting with the GMS organisers on Friday 6th March 2009 at 9am at the Kyalami Race Track. If anyone else would like to come along, please let me know.

ssmoothedgp24 Feb 2009, 16:42

Do you get the wiskey first and then go with Bruno? It should less the skid marks in da pants.

TTobyadmin26 Feb 2009, 16:48

As I've e-mailed to smoothedgp, I'm not keen on the ticket for drift ride idea just yet, so this won't happen. Maybe the Rock or the drift club can do this.

ssmoothedgp26 Feb 2009, 19:31

i agree toby too many legal issues.Bad idea.So now we need sponcers for these things.Who wants to help, ill sponcer the banner got a price on that it will be R800.Anyone else?

TTobyadmin06 Mar 2009, 09:48

Ok, I met with Alan from GMS show. It seems what they want is much bigger than what I thought. They want a *minimum* of 15 cars on the stand (ideally 20)! The stand area is 10m by 30m. This will be for one day only (the Monday, which is a public holiday). We will have to pay entrance fees, but the stand is free.

So, here are the problems:
1. It's hard enough getting 2 cars on display, can we do 15? I'd need most of the club to pool together and make this happen, like with the drift event last year. The cars must be clean and neat.
2. We will need way more than just a gazebo and a banner. We will need balloons, fliers, flags, tables, chairs, etc.
3. We will need to spend the whole day there. At least, being the GMS show, we can walk around and enjoy the show while our cars are on display.

So, is it possible to get 15 to 20 cars at the show? I will need *serious* commitment, like for example each person volunteering will pay a deposit that you will get back when your car is at the show. I can't promise them 20 cars, and then only have 5 pitch up.

Please can I have feedback from everyone whether we're going to try to make an event and a big show of this, or let it pass. As I said, I will need serious commitment. Thanks!

I can chat to PFB, seeing him tomorrow, he might be keen, we can also tow VC's car if its not running by then.

Also, I dont mind putting my car there, but its not a 200sx and its my anniversary weekend πŸ˜›
