If you made your SX N/A what engine would you swop in

RRBSX24 Jan 2009, 13:20

Just a Thought that crossed my mind

when i was thinking i need a light on fuel reliable car

So here the senario you have a complete s13 with no engine and gearbox

But if you were on a budget what would you do

must be N/A .....not turbo engines

1st option must be a 4 cyclinder readily available

2nd option must be 6 cylinder readily available

3rd option must be a 8 cylinder readily available

let see what you come up with

oh and it doesnt have to be nissan engines

Eish donny, tuff one,

4 cylinder - Group A TRD 20V engine (same as in Initial D)

6 cylinder - the 3.2 lump from a Honda NSX

8 cylinder - either the corvette LS1 or a 672 Hemi

editted again, i couldn't read properly today 😕

if fuel economy is your MAIN consideration..

4cyl - bmw or volkswagen turbo diesel.. i know my 320d gives between 16 to 22 km/litre, this in a 1.5 ton car..

6cyl - bmw or volkswagen 3l turbo diesel, these have stump pulling torque, try racing one on the move 🙂 the latest version of these 3litre/6cyl/twin turbo diesels puts out 200kw/600 odd nm torque 😮 and they are not much heavier than the 4cyl on juice..

8cyl - difficult.. but needless to say, you will get better consumption with a modern japanese v8 than a american lump.. ive heard the lexus v8 is not to bad on juice if tuned properly..

my 2 cents.. 😉

mmmmmmm let's see...

4Cyl - SR20 NEO VVL - Nissan's Vtec motor... and make it do 12000RPM... 😈

6Cyl - VQ35 - just sounds so sweet... 😈 😈

8Cyl - VK56DE - go big or go home... The VK56DE employs a massive 98mm bore and 92mm stroke for a total displacement of 5552cc. This engine makes 315 bhp (234kW) at a low 4900 rpm and more than 500Nm of torque at 3600 rpm. The BEAST will rip anything to shreds including your 19's 😈 😈 😈

The VK56DE you just import from the US...

It has to be Nissan... I don't like mixing manufacturers... 😂

4 Cyl, Honda S2000 motor
6 Cyl, would go for a sweet revving V6, perhaps 350Z engine.

If you've got a real stripped out lightweight SX, you could always try drop in a Hayabusa engine and gearbox, 6 speed sequential, only no reverse.

A diesel engine in a SX............BWHWHWQWQHWHQHWfwirbfhilwurbfwu

Reeze I said N/A ...that means no turbo

the s2000 engine is a beast , but they not available ....yet

hey guys its gotta be realistic engines that atleast have a chance of fitting in the engine bay

😀 😀 😀 😂

he said light on fuel... 😂 😂 😂

mm@verik25 Jan 2009, 21:27

Try a mitsubishi engine. Maybe the 4B11 Mivec or some honda engine.

GGary5726 Jan 2009, 08:39

Guys he said on BUDGET, fitting Honda motors and shit is a big and expensive job.

Look at something like a SR20VE/DE, VG30/30. I would more than likely fit a SR20 though.

Why not just fit the stock engine??

GGuy26 Jan 2009, 09:40

Ahh, cheap and on a budget, Ford Essex V6, Cressida gearbox

Otherwise try adapt a citi golf engine to the gearbox. 🙂

HHancoB26 Jan 2009, 10:06

Why not the straight 6 L28 with the SU's.

That thing revs revs and revs and sounds so sweet.

or then the Z33 motor(VQ35).

And why not a n/a rotary???

nn1smo200sx26 Jan 2009, 13:43

there is no contest-Q45 infinity V8.VERY light and huge potential

RRBSX26 Jan 2009, 19:38

lol 😀

ive seen those nissan v8 engines

they look bigger than the lexus v8

might have a problem fitting

May the sr20 would be a viable option

but they expensive

i gota say and i know you guys i gona kick me out for this

4AGE black top

light on fuel , revs ups nice got about 115kw Flywheel

I'd be kicked out as well, those things are rev monsters, very addictive sound.

Ive seen a few s14 with the VH45 fitted-it's a tight squeeze but it can be done.
To get anywhere near a turbo 2L you need a V8 to compensate with huge torque!!!Will try to find the link to that S14 .It made like 300rwhp with no mods and plenty torque.

rratadmin27 Jan 2009, 07:32

i think the "budget" idea has been lost 😂

DDrillergy27 Jan 2009, 07:48
