Have you ever seen this.

PPhinx30 Jan 2007, 21:56

It happened again.
My car has failed me again. Lucklly I was in PTA this time.

Moving through traffic at about 5000 RPM I hear a very load bang follow by a load banging sound at the same time both my alternator and diff light come on.
I proceeded to pull over and find this, It seems to have cracked my water-pump and snapped all my belts.

In all honesty I’m really sick of this Cr@p. I have broken enough belts in my time but never has this happened.
Now I have to strip everything again.

SSokar30 Jan 2007, 22:02

Jeez dude, I was sad to hear this!

Wouldnt worn mounts cause this? Cos somewhere something is flexing giving the belts more than they can handle!

PPhinx30 Jan 2007, 22:10

No I don't think it has anything to do with the mounts.

I have no clue

SSkidd30 Jan 2007, 22:16

Stupid question, where they tensioned properly?

If the where then it was a defect in the belt.

PPhinx30 Jan 2007, 22:29

yep Tension was correct.

I really havn't seen this before

CCharl30 Jan 2007, 22:43

Bent shaft??? šŸ˜•

vveecee30 Jan 2007, 22:51

snapped belt. i dont think that would happen with the correct tension... but i've heard of belts snapping!

but a destroyed waterpump, ddddddddaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnn...

sorry man.

seems the pta okes are having bad luck. maybe i shouldn't tempt fate, although my is giving kak too.

maybe we should all sell our sx's and buy 1300 tazz's??? we can then go tray drifting with our FWD.

TThe Calibrator31 Jan 2007, 06:32

Seems to me there is a bolt missing from the black bracket and another one appears to be loose.

PPhinx31 Jan 2007, 09:19

What?

The one where the bolts is missing on my cover is my fault

And loose bolts? They my look lose but they are not.

Sorry I get really edgy when people criticize my set-up. The car is very well taken care of. I quickly checked those bolts they are fine the missing bolt is a cover bolt.

Now lets look past the bolts and see the split in half water pump any idea's?

VVladeadmin31 Jan 2007, 09:41

Is it a Nissan waterpump for the CA18DET

I have seen that the AM water pumps aren't made for the CA18DET only for the CA18DE, now one might think there is no difference but there is... the T is made stronger to support the radiator fan, else the f-out like yours did... I had one one and it broke the plate off the shaft.

The AM parts are fine if you don't have a radiator fan running of it.

PPhinx31 Jan 2007, 09:44

Don't start.

Its a Ca20E water-pump...
Its perfectly fine because the new era skylines run clutch fan's.
Sorry if I'm edgy

I will be switching to electric Fans during the repair thanks to desertrat.

DDanielmoderator31 Jan 2007, 10:20

Damn man. Thats fcuked. Wonder what the hell happend. Im running the same waterpump i believe. 13 months infact and no problem yet.

PPhinx31 Jan 2007, 10:38

Thank you.

I Really, Really, Really starting to honestly hate this F%#$#king car.

For the past three months the car has only been used about 3 week's in total.

First the pulley failed, then the exhaust gaskets now the water pump.
Maybe I need to fit a rotory there might be less shit

Phinx,

Again I think we all understand this type of frustration, but I dont think people critize you at all. If you dont want unsolicited help fine. But surely all on this forum help where they can. Remember you posted pics to clear up your position, and accept help coming to you only by what can be viewed on a pic.

It happened with me on this same forum, getting involved in an argument which was not good. And I know that I am going to make use of that persons wisdom in feature. šŸ˜‰ 8) šŸ˜‚

vveecee31 Jan 2007, 12:41

yeah!!!

*chants "DO A ROTARY, DO A ROTARY"*

but remember to mount it rearwards and make the sx lighter - it will handle sweetly when setup properly.

DDracomoderator31 Jan 2007, 13:32

Phinx you pissed off...understandible, when I got my car I started picking up problems, I had petrol pump problems, as soon as that was done the clutch went, after that I had to redo the turbo, then the motor, then I thaught it was turbo again and I had my car back at the turbo guys many times in the first 5 months it was on the road for maybe a month and a half of all that time.

If I didn't owe money I maybe would have sold aswell but in the end I did what was nessisary and today I am not regretfull at all.....

DDunn31 Jan 2007, 14:19

jees guys,i don't feel so bad now,i have had my car since september 2006 and have a had a turbo redone, engine replaced, brake discs and viscous fan

vveecee31 Jan 2007, 14:33

hehe - this is starting to sound familiar!!!

like i said in another post - dont let this get to you.

jsut fix it, forget about the money, and remember that you drive a wikked car!!!

DDanielmoderator31 Jan 2007, 14:37

I havent had 1 touble free day in the almost 2 years i've owned mine. (yes really not 1 day!) TBH thats not such a major problem and i wouldnt sell mine if that happend now (although I WOUlD Be kRaZy FcuKen piSsEd).

The 1st time i needed to do my waterpump it took me 9 hours 😮 lol šŸ˜‚ 😳
when i did the timing belt (which is pretty much the same bar actually taking out hte waterpump) it took just over an hour
