I was bored one night and pressed the pop up light button really fast in and out and the lights started to alternate up and down was quite funny

LOL iv'e heard that happens. I tried it and it didnt work. Then decided to stop befor i break something...

not that anything could possibly break on a SX 🙄

CCharl01 Feb 2007, 21:49

Mine already had this mod done to it. works great

vveecee02 Feb 2007, 07:04

i'm doing that mod when i get home from work!

but this is an sx afterall... its bound to change something else too.

hopefully once i've cut the brown wire - i will get full boost at idle!!!

VVladeadmin02 Feb 2007, 07:50

I rewired my lights to work with a toggle switch... was a bitch, but now i can set them any way I want.

vveecee02 Feb 2007, 07:53

i've always loved that avatar of yours - the car is just like mine but the high angle shot and the lazy eyes make it look savage!!!

ok - if i remember this correctly... here goes...

1. get in car armed with wire cutters
2. locate button that opens and closes lights without turning them on.
(its the top one on the right i think in our cars)
3. pry it out of its socket
4. have a close look at the wires behind the switch (should be about 6+-1)
5. locate the brown wire
6. cut it
7. put the switch/button back
8. turn on lights
9.press modified button in
10. turn off lights
11. press modified button twice quickly - like double clicking a mouse.
12. do it over and over to get desired height!!!

fact (for my sx at least) - if you follow steps from 7 onwards, that is without cutting the brown wire, the headlights will wink (go up and down) alternatively. first one side then the other. thats if you do the double clicking quickly!!!

makes me think back to my maroon sx - one day i was on the highway behind a bus full of chicks that were having a jol and waving and all, so my car waved back - but with the big button (not the flashing stick, coz that takes too long to go back down) my lights popped up, and then one went down but not the other and i felt like a real doos

had to drive home with lights up
😈

is there a way to make the delay shorter when flashing?

TTobyadmin16 Feb 2007, 09:04

If your lights "wink", then it's usually because the connector to the motor is a bit corroded. If you take out the connector, clean all the contacts, put in some grease and put it all back, should fix this. I know it fixed it on ChemCool's car.

Another fact: One headlight will always stop before the other. Which in turn means one headlight will be at different heights regardless of when you decided to press the button again.

Personally speaking, my sx did the sleepy eye bit without having to cut the brown wire. With the new entire harness and engine harness I am not sure how things will be after everything is installed.

I also saw a cheap and easy way to do it...

There is a brownish knob that you can turn next to the light, it has a black cover on.

when the lights are off, you just turn the knobby anticlockwise and the lights will lift up. It will reset after you turn the lights on again.... but its a cheap easy way...

vveecee02 Jan 2008, 11:31

thats the manual override knob!

its there in case the motors on the lights dont work, so you can raise them yourself and still be able to drive at night.

when you turn the lights on and off again they return to the closed position, and if you want lazy eyes then you have to do it all over again.

wwidowmaker03 Jan 2008, 09:31

IIRC you first have to unplug the lights from the bottom, otherwise them knobbies do nothin

sleepy eyes good, but i prefer ANGRY EYES 😈
