200sx RB 25 CONVERSION

sskylow14 Sept 2009, 19:14

Hi Guys
Decided to buy a 200sx s13 end of the month. Want to go the rb25 route.
Is it alot of hassels doing that conversion. Anything i should know in advance?

Agree with Rat 100%,This is not a convertion that you do half ass 😳 ,OR dont have a plan for 🙁 If you do it do it right and stick to your original goals unless you prepared to spend the money ,I started off wanting a 'stock' motor ,Ended up upgrading ALL the bolt-ons for power 🙄 Now im going built motor 😳

Stock power is +-180wkw with the T28,Its not bad but be careful,The RB bug is killer,It will bite you for more power 😂

Good luck,I sent my mail addy to you if you need anything,I forgot about a Hookup on the 3 Oct at RB25SX place,You must join as there will be some good info shared

Anyone know if the rb25 crossmember fits a s13...I am almost sure it does and is part of the rb conversion.

lljS1415 Sept 2009, 10:27

Ja looks like a rb20

Going from the RB20 to RB25 is very easy as all the mounts are the same so buying the motor will be the only expence,Still very cheap as most of the expensive things are done 8)

Hi skylow, are you still going the rb route...did some searching and it seems not too difficult...major problems are engine mounts if you use the s13 cross member...the gear box mount needs to be modded to fit as well as the prop shaft to be modded.... the worst prob for me is cutting the bonnet reinforcement to clear the motor. One other problem I think would be the calibration of the speedo, anyone got a work around on this?

RReyn S28 Sept 2009, 19:19

My speedo works the only thing that does not work properly, is the ref counter on idle its 500rpm out and on 7200rpm its 1500rpm out. I have read up about it and I need a converter module can get over seas. My CA18DET speedo drive fitted directly into the RB fat box.

aantman28 Sept 2009, 19:38

Hi Reyn S, thanks for the info. a few more questions if I may....so if I understand correctly your s13 speedo worked properly when you fitted the ca18 speedo drive assy? The converter you speak of, do you have a link and a cost of it? Did you use the s13 cross member or the r33 one? Can the s13 diff be used in the rb conversion, are the ratios ok for road use? Are there any front suspension issues with the heavier rb, will stock front springs be ok or will it have to be coilovers?
Sorry for the 20 questions .....thinking of not going the sr route anymore but rather go with the rb25 and would like to iron out any potential problems.
Thanks
