New SX owner, popped gasket

Hi everybody,

I picked up my S13 this past Sunday, yesterday i was driving home from work when i noticed the temperature gauge starting to climb, when i switched off the car i heard a hissing sound, upon closer inspection, i found that all the water had sprayed out through a leak in the gasket between the head and the intake manifold, do i just need to get the gasket replaced? if so, who can i take it to?

thanks a lot!

I took a pic of where it's leaking from.

that just looks like a leak from the intake runner and not the block and head so you might just get away from buying a gasket set and replacing the gasket

if it is the block then you need to have the head skimed etc

thanks for the repy,

sorry, about saying it's on the block, i wasn't thinking, it's between the head and the bit that the injectors are in.

if it is between the inlet manifold and the head then you must just get a gasket and fit it yourself, not a very big job 😀

It may not be the biggest of jobs, but i'm not very...........mechanically inclined 😂

well it easy take one 13-15mm socket undo like 8-10 bolts slide off the manifold and pop new gasket in with some good sealer and peplace your bolts where you from

total job should take you lke 2-3hours max

ppoizenmoderator02 Feb 2010, 11:47

i bought a whole engin gasket set from alert engin parts for 350

but you cant just buy the head gasket set from them for like 200-250

OOutOfMyWay02 Feb 2010, 12:07

thanks, dont think there's an Alert near me, I'll check AutoZone,
Do i just ask for a gasket set for a CA18DET?

ppoizenmoderator02 Feb 2010, 12:13

yes but they will prob only have cor the ca18de not the turbo motor but it identical and is they can find 200sx s13 then ask for the pulsa or sentra
