hi, please could some1 help me with an exact shopping/grocery list for and engine swop from a ca18det to an s14 blacktop sr20det motor in my s13, with prices please, so i can see how much i must budget, thanks.
exact grocery list with prices for s14 blacktop SR20DET swop
budget about 20k
This is not as simple as that ,Depends on your goals like keeping it stock or not ,If you want the 250kw like you said you going to need bolt ons , all depends if you want the good stuff like a Garret bb GT 28 or a cheaper option ,That will set you back 10-13K just for that turbo 😮 then you still need wastegate(bigger then GT28 only),clutch ,bov, ecu ,fmic, piping, exhaust and downpipe, oh yes and the motor and box 😀 .Water meth might be needed too if you going over 1.0 bar to avoid det 😉
Depends on the budget will depend on the power and RELIABILITY of the setup 🙄
You get what you pay for im afraid.
hmmm, i was thinking of doing a stock install, and then slowly build the motor up from that, mabe, just a few smaller mods goin on with the initial install like exhaust, and FMIC,how much for that would you say?i will have around 25k when my money comes through from my old cars sale, so i think i want to do a stock'ish install that will later be modded, what you think?
you doing it yourself?
dont think so, dont really have the technical know how, howcum?
labour can be quite costly
Dont forget engine management system, CA18 ECU wont run the SR20, maybe with a nistune upgrade.

You so Correct, If you dont do things yourself Labour is a Huge Bill on its Own.
any idea how long this install would take by some one who knows what he's doing, and has done the swop before, also any idea of the labour costs roughly?

All depends on who's doing it.
Where are you located?
hahaha......Well mine took over year! 😕
Cost wise in labour is difficult to say. Get a qoute from Dynotec, also from Luc, he drives that horribly fast corsa at Killarney. His nick name on Hondaboys in Pantera. Send him a email, he is on there allot. Im sure he will be able to do a basic swop and install the management for a reasonable price.
RB25SX....give the man 'n price man...you know you can do it properly! 😈
thanks guys, i'm in cape town, i spoke to dynotech the other day and they said that they have done 2 SR20DET swops before, do you think they will be able to do a good job?who would you say is the best to go to for this?
mario, howcum yours took so long, how long do you think it would take for the stock install, not bolt ons/mods n stuff like that?

2 weeks working on it every day. 6 months in their spare time. it is really hard to say. the best is to have a 2nd car to use so it doesnt matter how long they take
😈 Mine is a very long story! Lets not go there!
Basic swap can not take longer than 4 - 6 weeks! If all is smooth sailing! If done yourself it will be allot sooner!
any1 whoes done this, if you have the time is there any chance you could give me a put together parts list with prices, roughly, just for a stock S14 Sr20DET, i need to kinda see what budget i need, would appreciate it,thanks, also, any idea what a place like dynotech would charge for this swap, labour wise, like if i had all the parts for the install, thanks.
What u can do is order urself this DVD, it is from overseas. If you own an SX u'll suddenly find urself buying alot of shyte over the net. IMO, you're not gona get a rough price cos any motor swop is gona run into it's own unique list of probs and issues. You may find when you're done you've gotten tired of the stock power output, then ur gona mod some more. So your list is probably not gona end. Also, try reading about these swops on international forums. Who knows, u may just chuck the SR swop and go RB 😉

PS: Don't start a war between Gary and PFB about the swop 😂
took me over a year as well...
but then i lost interest, got demotivated, etc.
i reckon if you have everything you need - you could rush it in a weekend or two. if you play it by ear and do everything yourself it could take up to 6 months.
ya, i am very motivated now, but i think the best thing to do, is to first get everything together that i will need for the swop, source and buy evrything, and then only start the actual swopping process, i just think this will make things alot smoother, wot u guys think?is there no 1 that can give me a list of parts and local prices of the parts needed for this swop?plz guys, thanks.
