howsit guy's

i was wondering if anyone on the forum has done a v-mount cooler i have some q's

WWhite Fang19 Jul 2011, 20:22

What is a V mount cooler ?

CCC Motorsport19 Jul 2011, 20:24

v-mount intercooler basically mounted like the scooby's but iv seen some diff installments and think it would actually be batter

aaep88619 Jul 2011, 20:35

lots of custom piping and welding .... and new bracket for radiator and IC

DDanielmoderator19 Jul 2011, 20:36

Seems like a lot of hassle to go through. Any particular reason for wanting a v-mount?

WWhite Fang19 Jul 2011, 20:37

So slat a pick so i can see !
You do know i am an engineer ?

that was quik

well the pic there seems nice but abit impractical to do but ya i wana do one to avoid thoughs nasty stones and its different 😉

Just get a big proper branded cooler. Still have to take the following into cosideration .
For what motor?
How much boost?
pipe diameter and length?

For a CA
.8 possibly 1 bar
Pipe diameter 50mm to cooler and 60mm from and with a v-mount you can keep lenth short

DDanielmoderator19 Jul 2011, 20:49

Lol thats practically no different from the pic I put up  😂

I think it would be super cool to do though. Just impractical, Im in no way trying to put you off the idea. I say go for it! 8)

I wouldnt want it myself though

CCC Motorsport19 Jul 2011, 20:52

well from what i see in your pic is the main air flow is from the bottom where as i would want top flow because that way you can channel the air flow through the power bay better 😉

SSilviaS1319 Jul 2011, 21:02

I agree with Daniel, you can try it, but I think just go for a good branded cooler ( not a no name brand)
For a CA and such low boost it seems to be over-kill.

DDanielmoderator19 Jul 2011, 21:03

What you smoking ma bru?

forgive me, as I clearly dont understand what your telling me. but the air flows exactly the same in both examples 😕

CCC Motorsport19 Jul 2011, 21:11

sorry maybe im looking at that pic wrong but is that not the bumper? in your pic?

CCC Motorsport19 Jul 2011, 21:13
DDanielmoderator19 Jul 2011, 21:31

Yeah its the bumper, but if you looked from the same angle in your pics it would look the same.

look at the drawing. The air goes through the IC and out the vent at the top, and through the rad and down under the car

this is the same as the images you linked.

oh haha my bad i had something else in mind then ok so now why cant you simply move the radiator straight back instead of the angle,, reason i say this is it would simplify all the work needed,,

Run 2 bracket's that the rad mount's on the bottom and 2 that mount the rad and the cooler?

DDanielmoderator19 Jul 2011, 21:44

So a upside down L ? (if that makes sense lol)

It would probably work, but you will have to make ducting to get the air that went through the rad (which is now warm) through the IC. that and the loss in air velocity would make it less efficient.

CCC Motorsport19 Jul 2011, 21:48

hahaha ya exactly 8)

hmmm i see what you saying ok well i will carry on playing with some ideas and get back to you...

the mission is to make it not tooooo complicated and affective...
