Something for the CA18 lovers

A little something I am dabbling with.
10.71@210km/h

mmono23 May 2007, 08:25

nice

GGary5723 May 2007, 08:27

What has been done to the motor?? What management is he using??

mmono23 May 2007, 08:37

ja sum specifics would be brilliant isnt this the bakkie that was in the speed and sound?

PPhinx23 May 2007, 09:09

yep I know the people that run that bakkie.

They have two of them the blue on and the White one.
Guy really know his stuff about CA's built both motors himself along with his sons.

If I'm not mistaken the last time I spoke to the guy was around 6 months ago it runs almost 2 bar on a stock head gasket.

Custom intake
T3/T4 hybrid
Different pistons
Huge port job
Stock Rods (or was that the white bakkie)

Ow and a very secret cam set-up

GGary5723 May 2007, 09:12

it runs almost 2 bar on a stock head

How can the stock head gasket cope with that much pressure?? I thought the reason for only boosting a stock CA18 to 1Bar max was the head gasket??

VVladeadmin23 May 2007, 09:41

IIRC Duane told me that power was made on 2.5bar rather impressive hey!

GGary5723 May 2007, 09:45

So then what is the max you can boost a STD internal CA18DET then?? I mean one with all the bolt on mods, ie. FMIC, manifold, bigger turbo, etc?? I was always told the head gasket goes at anything more than 1Bar.

TThe Calibrator23 May 2007, 09:58

Sphinx u are talking about a different crowd I think.
Martin has only ever had the blue bakkie and both him and his son drive it.
Yes its the bakkie that was in the SNS

For obvious reasons I am not going into great detail on the specs

CA18DET
Gasflow
VD Linde billet cams
T something turbo
Arias pistons
Eagle Rods?
Big boost
Nothing really special in the motor, good suspension setup and repectable power gets the times.
Running Gotech Pro currently but that is changing soon.

We will see what the improvements are on Sunday

Goal is 400kw plus and 9s 1/4

mmono23 May 2007, 10:01

I would luv a motor with such powa but the relabilty factor is a killer.

GGary5723 May 2007, 10:06

I would luv a motor with such powa but the relabilty factor is a killer.

And the fact that there is probably zero drivability.

mmono23 May 2007, 10:07

but then who needs drivability when you can fly 😈

GGary5723 May 2007, 10:13

Ja I would like a car that could smoke just about anything on the road. I still get neavous racing M3 and STi cause they no walk over and most of the time it ends evenly. I would sure like to give them a hiding though 😂 .

PPhinx23 May 2007, 10:28

Sphinx u are talking about a different crowd I think.

Hmm Could be... And its Phinx dammit 😉

Anyway good luck with that.
Hope he makes 9 /s would like to "CA" up there

What EMI will he be using now?

GGary5723 May 2007, 11:41

Perfect Power XMS?? 😂

WWarrenS1323 May 2007, 12:14

Whoa DAMN! So much power from a ca18, geez, this makes me happy 😀
Just shows that its a top notch motor hey, and u can get very decent power before it goes boom.

*INSPIRED*

HHennie Marais23 May 2007, 13:02

take Norris designs' Ca18, it's got a ND crank but it's still making HUGE power.

mmono23 May 2007, 13:06

For give da domguid ND crank????

HHennie Marais23 May 2007, 13:48

ND = Norris Designs, they make they own cranks, stock stroke but a lot stronger.
